Hi ,
Can anyone tell me when should I use char**. Does it have nay extra
advantage over char*& ? "strtol" function takes char** as one of its
parameters. But,cant understand why that is needed? The same purpose
could have been served using char* only.
Looking forward to your replies and help inthis regard.
Thanks & Regards

(again :))
Hello everyone.
I'll ask this even at risk of being accused of not researching adequately.
My question (before longer reasoning) is: How does declaring (or defining,
whatever) a variable **var make it an array of pointers?
I realize that 'char **var' is a pointer to a pointer of type char (I hope).
And I realize that with var, var is actually a memory address (or at

I have been reading about the practise of casting values to unsigned
char while using the <ctype.h> functions. For example,
c = toupper ((unsigned char) c);
Now I understand that the standard says this about the <ctype.h>
functions:
"The header <ctype.h> declares several functions useful for classifying
and mapping characters.166) In all cases the argument is an int, the

I have followed the advice on the following MVPS page:

This states that after changing the Registry setting for the progress

but the progress bar continues to display.
Am I missing something? Does the PC need to be rebooted after the

So I need to load lots of data into my database.
So I discover LOAD DATA INFILE.
Great! This little gem loads my CSV in blazing times (compared to
parsing the file and doing INSERT for each row). Its still slow on
large files, but just barely acceptable.
Only one problem. It truncates fields to 256 characters, even on a
text field.

if we use char in a function parameter like that
void st(char x)
{cout << x;}
and char* as a parameter in the same function instead of char x
what would be different

the code below will compile in visual c++ 2003, but im not sure its

this is implemented?
Im concerned because I had a 3rd party library wrapper which was

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
