source code for bandwidth speed tester?

Hi all,

Anyone here know of some source code (in C#, but other langs are okay
too) for a bandwidth test app? I need to test bandwidth speeds on my PC
& would like to develop one.

Ideas, tips & hints much appreciated. Thanks.

TIA

Some time ago I hacked a custom solution to run doctests on text files containing documentation. The solution involved this kind of game: tester=doctest.Tester(globs={},verbose=1) tester.runstring(mytest) It worked fine, but now with Python 2.4.a3 I get DeprecationWarning: class Tester is deprecated; use class

I've developed a new form of client-based, secure 'Web Memory' that uses the JAVA or dotNET VM to launch a 'terminate and stay resident' program fragment that maintains persistence between web pages by program reloading. Web Memory is the basis for an Open Source e-commerce front end that could reduce web congestion and simplify online shopping. If too many people use this technique, then it will not work for anyone. Bandwidth for Web...

Hi everybody, I have a need for a web app that will allow a flash client to download files at a specified speed. I am using Flash for an application of mine which downloads JPG slides to users' web based app. Because I can't control how quickly a file (in this case, a JPG slide) is

I'm writing an application that's bandwidth intense. My available bandwidth is 1.5Mbps (cable modem) and I know I can reach around 1.4Mbps, if not more. The application I am writing right now simply connects to a newsgroup and downloads the headers. It doesn't do any more specific programmming after that. However, the app will use, at most, 100kbps bandwidth. I'm hoping that it can run much faster than that and reach somewhere close...

You've all seen them. Hoards of sites (predominantly ISP's) offering to test your bandwidth to the four corners of the globe, all trying to show that they are faster and you should switch to using them. Well, I now have a need to implement something similiar within my ASP.NET applications so that I can troubleshoot slow performance problems between our clients and our servers. An ActiveX control or Java Applet that the client can...

Is there a way where I can "guess" what relative speed the user's connection is? Currently, the client is wanting some graphical intensive content and I'd like to be able to warn users on dial-up to allow them to go to a "gracefully degraded" version. I thought of simply putting up a question for users to answer but the client would rather it happen, more or less, automatically.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
