Palm Pilot isn't microsoft but Palm OS.
Ive no idea/interest what the difference is between the rest even tho' I
program pdas. I just know different pda OSes depend on the age of the pda
device operating system you're programming.
Visual c#? Yes, just create a smart device application. You get a stunted
set of classes and have a Compact Framework rather than all the frills you
get with regular windows programming. You can extend the capabilities a bit
using 3rd party classes. OpenNetCF do a nice freeby but Ive found some of
their stuff is buggy. Can't complain if you get a freebie though as there's
enough good stuff to forgive the bad.
You'll need to install Active Sync so the debugger can talk to the PDA, or
VS can talk to an emulator on your desktop. (Im not sure if that's
automatically installed with visual studio or you have to download it from
msdn.)

hi

you have a confusion regarding "buzzwords"
Both PocketPC (PPC) & Palm are PDA

Basically I think that right now you can run a .net app in pretty all of the
MS OSes.
For PPC you need the compact framework, for the others I think you use the
regular one, not sure about CE though.

you cannot use Palm neither.
if you are still confuse post back.

cheers,

Hi We have an access db which records daily orders. We would like the orders to be downloaded to a windows mobile 2003 device via usb cradle. Drivers then take along the device and get signatures from customers when items delivered. Once drivers are back, the information to be synched back to the access db as drivers may have amended the order detail. How does one go about synching to/from mobile device? Are there any code examples...

I'm embarking on a project that will have both a desktop application and a Pocket PC application. It seems logical to have as much code as possible sitting in a shared project, which would be referenced and utilized by both the Windows Forms application and the Mobile Device application. Are there any "gotchas" (ie. warnings) that anyone knows about in following this approach? Robert W. Vancouver, BC

I just downloaded a activex control that was written in C# and tried to view it on my PDA's Internet Explorer. At my regular PC it displayed just fine, but nothing showed up on the pda. Hi group, Using an iPaq running Windows Mobile 2003. I have a need where I will want to display a map and then using a bluetooth (or another form of connectivity) GPS unit, receive the data and then store it on a db on the device to later display points on my displayed map. I have as yet to buy any hardware so this question is really one to see if it is possible. So, is it possible to use VB2003 or VB2005 to interface with a GPS...

Hi, I am making my first Windows Mobile app, a simple countdown timer for my Windows Mobile 6.1 Pocket PC (in C#). The alarm works fine in general. However, if I've let my Pocket PC sit idle for more than 1 minute and the display turns off, then the alarm will not sound until I press the "power" button to wake it back up. This makes the timer pretty much useless: for example, what if I want to be woken up after a 30-minute nap? When I...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
