Exceptions Dialog Box

In the Exceptions Dialog Box under 'If the exception is not handled' i have
checked off the 'Continue' option which allows execution to continue If the
exception is not handled.when i run my code using VS.Net ,this works fine.
However if i run the code outside VS and the exception is not handled the
program will 'Break' and you will get the exception dialog asking you if you
would like to 'Quit' or 'Continue'.
Is it possible to have the program 'continue' upon encountering an unhandled
exception without getting the exception dialog while running the code outside
of VS(as is possible if you are running the code within VS)?

TIA

Vinny

I feel like this has probably been answered before, but I couldn't find something quite like it in the archives. Feel free to point me somewhere if you know where this has already been answered. I have a list in a particular order that I want to split into two lists: the list of every nth item, and the list of remaining items. It's important to maintain the original order in both lists. So the first list is simple:

Hi, as yet i have readed in the MSDN about exception handling. The only references that i was founded, described try, catch, finally and throw objects. But I am searching about an occation to catch exceptions central, maybe, the framework call a central function of each class, when there is throw a exception. The reason is, that i do not need try, catch... blocks and therefore the sourcecode will be going to unreadable.

How do I know which exceptions are thrown by certain methods? For example, reading a file might throw an IO Exception, etc. In Java, the compiler won't even let you compile unless you put your code in try/catch blocks but the C# compiler doesn't seem to mind? I am particularly interested in what Exceptions are thrown by HttpWebResponse.

Greeting all! I have a problem that I'm hoping will be of interest to others here, and maybe a solution will crop up. I appoligize for the message's length. Now, I'm new to C# and .NET, so I am developing an application during my learning phase. Because of this, I'm trying to use as many *features* as is reasonable. Some may be more reasonable than others :) Keep that in mind. OK, basicaly my problem is how to handle exceptions in...

I'm just starting to work with UserControls and have a question on the behavoir of exceptions within UserControls and VS.Net 2003. I have noticed that when a UserControl throws an exception from an event (i.e. Click event), VS.Net will enter debug mode on the exact line that threw the exception in the UserControl. You can see the complete call stack up to the Click event, all local variables from the Click event, etc. However, if an...

While developing the below code I noticed that exceptions were not working as expected. An exception is thrown inside an XML import DLL and not being caught inside the Main() code fragment, creating an unhandled exception inside "theUI". Would anybody know why this is happening? I thought the general rule for exceptions handling was the exception is passed up the stack until the application handles it or the program terminates? ...

Understanding and Using Exceptions (this is a really long post...only read it if you (a) don't know what try/catch is OR (b) actually write catch(Exception ex) or catch{ }) The first thing I look for when evaluating someone's code is a try/catch block. While it isn't a perfect indicator, exception handling is one of the few things that quickly speak about the quality of code. Within seconds you might discover that the code author...

Well -- I generally use the web-base Microsoft newsgroup app, and all I see is the text of your message. I don't remember ever seeing a "handled" property of the exception dialog, at least not in C#, which is where you are posting. Can you be a bit more specific? -- Peter To be a success, arm yourself with the tools you need and learn how to use them. Site: http://www.eggheadcafe.com http://petesbloggerama.blogspot.com

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
