We have a few developers that use Oracle 9i (9.2.0.4.0) on their
personal workstations for testing purposes. Recently, weve made the
decision to upgrade them to WinXP so that they are able to use some
other functionalities of the OS, but we are running into a totally odd
problem with Oracle. It seems that, Installing Oracle runs just fine,
and our ant scripts to build the database work well...but when we reboot

Hello,
When I try to connect to my Oracle instance on the W2K server that it
is installed on, using SQLPLUS (ie, SQLPLUS user/password@instance), I
get:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
If I try again at the "Enter user-name:" prompt with "user/password",

I'd like to display list of all MS SQL servers which are available on
the network
(I write application which uses database located on one of the machines in
my LAN). Has anyone got any idea what to do in order to obtain list of all
such servers?!
When you open Sql Service Manager (for sql server2000) you've got such list.

No, I'm trying to get teh postgresql groups which are already ON usenet to
follow proper usenet guidelines. In order to be under the comp.* hierarchy
the server MUST go through RFD and CFV. Otherwise it is a ROGUE group!

Anyone know how I can pull in a list of available database servers on my

Even just the namespace to use would be a start, though more info than
that would be a lot more helpful.
