Subject: Detecting the .NET debugger from Unmanaged code

I'm writing an MFC ActiveX control and some C function expose in a DLL
that will be used in Visual Basic .NET and Visual C#.

I want to detect in my code if we are currently beeing debugged by any
debugger (Managed and Unmanaged debugger.). Previously, we were using
the win32 IsDebuggerPrese nt() method. This method always returns
false when we are beeing debugged in a Visual Basic .NET application
without "Unmanaged code debugging" activate.

I know that I can use in .NET the
System.Diagnost ics.Debugger.Is Attached() but my ActiveX is written in
MFC and not in managed code. Si I don't have access to this object.
Is there a 'Win32' way to detect if a process in attached to a .NET
debugger?

Thank you

Hi, My application includes a class library which has both managed C++ and unmanaged C++ code. The unmanaged C++ code includes only one class with both virtual methods and non-virtual methods. When I use the debugger I am able to step into methods that are non-virtual, however, when I try to step into methods which are virtual I receive the following message: "There aren't source code avalaible for the current location". The unmanaged...

There is an old thread I found on google where the OP was exhibiting the same problems I am seeing. Reference "Debugger hell" posted 7-18-2002 by Sean Gies I am running Visual Studio 2003 RTM. Has this problem been fixed? I have a C# application that calls a managed C++ wrapper of a native C++ dll. Everything works fine. However, I notice on occasional breakpoints in my native code, everything freezes and it takes a while to bring up...

VS.NET 2003 defaults the "Debugger Type" property to "Auto" for Visual C++ projects. Unfortunately, the "Auto" type isn't very smart. "Auto" bases the debugger type on the launched EXE's type, which may have nothing to do with the C++ project I'm trying to debug. I have a .NET EXE that hosts all of my DLLs, but a lot of the DLLs are old, unmanaged C++ COM DLLs. Now everytime I debug one of them, I have to remember to change the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
