Hi,
I'm a noob trying to use managed DirectX (VC# 2003, DX9.0 Apr 2005 SDK). I
used to use OpenGL with QT and VC++6.0, but I was a relative newcomer to
that as well.
When I used OpenGL, my understanding was that if you used display lists,
your vertices would normally be held in memory on the video card. Now, with
managed DirectX, I am looking at code that looks like this:

I have installed the lastest DirectX SDK on my machine. However, when I try to build their
VB.NET example of an audio/video player, the build gets errors associated the the
DirectX namespaces for audio and video components. I use the defaults to load the
DirectX SDK as I did when I initially installed the .NET software. It appears to me
that the build can not find the components.
What files contain the .NET DirectX namespaces?
Where...

Dear All,
I want to create a high-speed imaging application and I am currently
sing the built-in GDI+ imaging controls, methods, etc. However, on Bob
Powell's website, he said to check out DirectX to do this. But I am not well
versed in C++ or C#, I am relatively new to those languages, I have more
experience and therefore am more comfortable in Visual Basic. Can I use
DirectX in Visual Basic.Net or will I have to learn C# or C++. I want...

I'm struggling to get started on this subject as I can find out so little
information about DirectX
I have some IP Cameras and I am trying to display the video and also save
the file, and I am hearing that DirectShow may have the answer. However,
after downloading the latest DirectX SDK it says that DirectShow is now
obsolete but it doesn't say what I should be using.
I am thinking that I need to set up some tcp network streaming to...

Hi All,
I have a problem with component DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback.Video.
Following part of code works good but I have one problem. The movie is
allways on the top left corner of the display. Size of the movie has
change according to size of the PictureBox but position of the movie is
allways the same: top left corner. How can I change position of the movie?
Protected Overrides Sub OnResize(ByVal e As System.EventArgs)...

I just downloaded the apparently free SDK for DirectX 9, all 200+ MB
of it, but as I read about WPF I wonder: is DirectX obsolete? Should
I even bother learning how to use it? After all, the end user must
have the DirectX library installed on their PC before they can use any
video playing program you write.
Does WPF even use DirectX? Or are the functions of DirectX (mostly
video and graphics stuff, possibly accelerated via software...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
