Is it possible to exclude certain files from the "Copy Project" command,
like can be done in FrontPage when publishing a web? How?
This would be very convenient. For example, I have settings in my WebConfig
file that need to be different on my server than on my development machine.
So I'd like to exclude that file when doing a Copy Project. I also have
other files that I know aren't changed that I would like to avoid having to
upload...

Hi all,
In my web project, I have directory with testing pages that I use for
debugging. I would like to exclude it from the final product.
Is there a way to tell VS.NET not to compile class files that directory in
Release mode?
Thanks.

I'm not one to rant or flame....so please excuse me while I do so for this
once. I've now spent a bit of time working with VS2005 beta 2 to see how it
functions for web development, especially how our current extensive number
of .Net 1.1 web apps convert to it. After a week's time I dont's mind the
converted app code that was broken and had to be changed, due to
deprecation, new framework classes (some of which have names identical to...

In VS 2003, I was able to exclude full folders from a project but I can't
do the same in VS 2005. I can exclude files but not folders. I prefer to
exclude at the folder level because the folder icon has visual indicator.

I'm using aspnet_compiler to precompile my web app for deployment.
Currently it copies all subfolders from the asp.net projects source folder
to my destination folder. I have some files I do not want it to copy when
deploying this app, is there any way to exclude them? I like to keep all
files related to my projects within that projects folder hierarchy (such as
schemas, documentation, etc), but I don't want them deployed, or to have to...

Hi,
How to exclude the App_Data directory from Visual SourceSafe?
It appears that Vs 2005 automatically adds the App_Data directory with the
large binary MDF and LOG files to the Visual SourceSafe.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
Thanks,

Hello All,
Can someone please explain what these .exclude/.include files are? They
only show up in some web site projects, and it seems to be related to
deleting. Any ideas?

In VS 2005 if you exclude files from a project, it actually renames the
file to filename.exclude. In previous versions, it just left the file
alone but excluded it. If you have a very large ASP.net web site you
may have thousands of images. In our case we have millions because the
nature of the site is that users upload their photo albums to share
with other users. I NEVER want the IDE to enumerate these files for
any reason, including...

using VS2005, web application projects, web deployment projects
My web installer builds from the output of the web deployment project. I
end up with the obj folder in my web site. How do I use an exclude filter to
stop this (obj does not work)? Better yet can I have the deployment project
exclude files not part of the project. I assume that it is simply working on
the directory structure.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
