timeout for NTD winform

hello
i write a simple winform app to test the NTD(no-touch deployment) feature of
dot net, after deploy it to the iis server,it works well,i can invoke it from
either commandline or ie browser. but i found that if it is started up in
the client side,i IGNORE it,that means i don't operate it,after a wile,it is
automatically closed.why, are there some .net configuration to incharge the
timeout?
how can i make the winform app that start from the GAC keep PERMINENTLY
running in the client side, even no body touch it.

thank you!!

zbcong,

AFAIK, this shouldn't happen at all. Are you sure there isn't some
other reason it is closing, like an exception being fired, or something like
that? I don't believe that it would shut down these for any reason.

I have an ASP.Net application that sends Emails on several pages. The problem is that when the mail server is down from some reason, the SmtpMail.Send hangs the application for one minute until I get an exception that the server is not reponsding. Is there a way to set a timeout for this operation (for example 5 seconds) ? Is there another solution for it (sending the mail in new thread ?) ? Thanks ra294@hotmail.com

I use a WinForm app for users to upload a file to my server. Basically one line of code; Response = WC.UploadData(MyUrl, "PUT", MyByteArray) Works fine except for larger files. After about 104 seconds I get a System.Net.WebException in System.dll. The message is "The operation has timed out". On my server, I have modified the machine.config file for the httpRuntime

Hi, In my current project, I need to embed an .NET winform usercontrol in the aspx page (via <Objecttag). This winform usercontrol has an event called DoEvent (void DoEvent()). This winform usercontrol will fire this event upon certain action by the user. I tried to let the aspx page subscribe to this event via <script for="winObj1" event="DoEvent()" language="javascript"> window.alert("window control event happen!");

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
