Hi,
We are trying to add a Client Certificate support for our web app that
emulates a hardware device web app.
The hardware uses a 2 factors authentication, which requires a Web
Service client to send: Client Certificate and Username / password.
We are using a Web Service provider which uses IIS 5.1 as HTTP server.
IIS is set to require client certificate and Basic Authentication.

I have a web based application for our internet. I see some sites have
https, called certificate. I have the following questions:
1. I am wondering if it is really required to have a certificate if you are
keeping some confidential data in your database.
2. Where exactly is security increased with https?
3. Is there a way to get certificate for free for testing purposes?

We are developing a web service that will be consumed by an external
java-based client (using AXIS if that helps). Their specification dictates
that we will use SSL Mutual Authentication. In order for this to work, I
assume they will provide me with the public key of their certificate and we
will configure IIS to accept the root authority (who will be their own

Hi all,
I'm having trouble connecting to a Java web service using HttpWebRequest. I
get the error message "The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS
secure channel". The Java service requires a client certificate which they
have provided in .cer format. I can connect ok to their test service which
uses SSL but doesnt require a client certificate with the code below.
I dont have great deal of knowledge about client certificates...

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
