I'm a self-taught programmer, so this might be a pretty dumb question.
If it is, please point me in the right direction and I shall
apologize profusely.
I have a question regarding C++ and object members. Can anyone help?
I'm writing a C++ wrapper for a fairly old programming interface to a
document editing program that has no OOP whatsoever; only tons of
structs. This program has different callbacks I'm supposed to
implement for...

Hello.
I am a web developer very worried about "bloat code" and "languages
mixture". So, since some time, I always try to avoid completely the use
of javascript in XHTML/HTML files. This leads to me to hate, also, any
event (onload, onchange, ...) instanciated in the element tag itself, like:
<input type="text" onkeyup="return doSomething();" />
I would replace this code above with an input element marked with an

This may be considered as OT since the C++ Standard says not one word
about threads. Nevertheless, C++ is routinely and widely used to write
solid multithreaded code.
I wondered if anyone has any pointers/references to invoking callbacks
accross different threads? (google is not showing much promise, and I'm
running out of both time and patience...)

The garbage handler in the .NET framework is handy. When objects fall out of
scope, they are automatically destroyed, and the programmer doesn't have to
worry about deallocating the memory space for those objects. In fact, all
the programmer has to worry about is the total sum of objects loaded into
RAM at any known point. Memory leaks are not a problem.
.... So one would like to think. The reality is that delegates and event...

Hi
I use the following syntax to have events inherited from base to child classes which works nicely (virtual and override keyword on events). But I am wondering if it is a "supported" way of using events since I never saw it used anywhere in MSDN documentation/samples?! Or it will just break when I upgrade to .NET Framework 2.x in the coming years
namespace MyNamespac
public delegate void MyDel()
public class MyBase
public virtual...

I'm confused:
"why do we need to assign a method to a delegate then assign the delegate to
an event why not just assign the method to the events event handler"
and
"how does making a callback to some method differ from calling the method as
per normal"?

Hey everyone:
Do callbacks need to be static?
I'm trying to implement events for some async operations with I/O and
network, but in all the examples I've seen the callbacks are static,
making it hard to implement events, is this supposed to be this way?
Is there any difference from the asyc operation point of view?

Hi,
can anyone show me how to be able to pass the name of method to a dll
function which will call this method when something inside the dll calling
function happens.
Is this called a callback?
Are there any websites that show how to implement something like this
easily??

Why can't it use callback here???

I have been reading about asp.net 2.0's client callbacks using the
ICallbackEventHandler interface.
I have also read that it is pretty much a light-weight AJAX type methodology
and that it uses the XmlHttp. Now, my understanding is not all browsers
support XmlHttp.
Can someone please let me know whether client callbacks will work in all
browsers or only specific browswers and if so, which browsers currently
support it?

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
