move large project to 2005 Beta

Hi,

I have a large project I wrote in 2003 version 7.1.3088. The project
has 128 .cs files with over 1000 References. When I moved a small utility
over I had to manually remove then reinstall each Reference for each file.
Is there any automated help for coverting 2003 References to 2005
References?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

There is only the built in conversion utility. This might change when 2005
is fully released, but as of yet, all I have seen and heard is about the
built in conversion utility.

You may want to post your question to the
microsoft.priva te.whidbey.csha rp.ide group on privatenews.mic rosoft.com and
see if anyone has written a custom solution for this.

Like the title says, my installation of VC# 2005 Beta 2 doesn't seem to have a Setup kind of project available. Actually, except for the Screensaver Starter Kit, it has only four types: Windows app., Console app., Library and Empty project. I have the .Net Framework SDK 2.0 installed (of course, also the Framework) but no use. I was used to this handy kind of project since VS 2003 but now I have to resort to 3rd party software to deploy...

I am working on a project that will have about 500,000 records in an XML document. This document will need to be queried with XPath, and records will need to be updated. I was thinking about splitting up the XML into several XML documents (perhaps 50,000 per document) to be more efficient but this will make things a lot more complex because the searching needs to go accross all 500,000 records. Can anyone point me to some best practices...

My company is just starting development of a new project using VB.NET. The question I have is, since the release of VS 2005 and the 2.0 Framework comming out soon, should we start developing with the Beta version? Or should we stick to 2003 & the 1.1 framework. 2005 will be released before we are even halfway done with the project, and I am anxious to take advantage of some of the new features. Any thoughts? Thanks,

I open the VB6 project in Visual Studio 2005 (not the BETA version) which starts the conversion wizard. It goes through the whole conversion process, then comes up with the error: Unable to read the project file 'MyProject.vbproj'. The project file "C:\NET Projects\MyProject\MyProject.vbproj" was not found. If I go to the project folder, I find the file MyProject.vbproj.VB7.vbproj. When I try to open it, it starts the conversion...

Looking for your highly subjective opinions (from those of you who have been working extensively with VS 2005). I have a client that needs/wants a complete rewrite of an existing application. I will be proposing a .NET Windows application with a supporting SQL Server database. It will likely take 4-5 months before we roll out the first production version. Because of the apparent issues with VS 2005 (poor performance, unpredictable and...

guys, I have a project need to move more than 100,000 records from one database table to another database table every week. Currently, users input date range from web UI, my store procedure will take those date ranges to INSERT records to a table in another database, then delete the records, but it will take really long time to finish this action (up to 1 or 2 hours). My question is if there is some other way I should do to speed up...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
