I am trying to develop a web service to accept a file uploaded via http post
from a vba (Access) application.
Thanks to helpful links in a vb newsgroup and my previous work with WinInet
api I was able to write the code to do the upload. I know this works because
I tested by posting to an asp page that saves the file.
Now I need to create a .NET web service to accept and save the file. Of all
the web service samples I found, the only ones...

when starting a windows service writte in vb.net, a messagebox appears:
cannot start service from the command line or a debugger. A windows
service must first be installed using installutil.exe and then startede
with the serverexpl, windows services or the NET START command.
tryed also installing with installutil: it says there is no install packs.
how can I make my service work in design mode and in normal runtime mode?

I am writing a service that monitors when a particular app is started.
Works, but I need to get the user who is currently logged in, and of course
Environment.UserName returns the service logon (NT_AUTHORITY\SYSTEM).
I understand that when the service starts, no user may be logged in, but
that's ok, as the app I am monitoring can only be run by a logged in user.
Do I need to use WMI to get the user context of Explorer.exe or is there a...

Hi Folks,
Sorry if this is a bit vague, but I am REALLY struggling to find an answer to this (hopefully simple) question.
I have a web service running on a system that we are using to integrate with another system running on that box.
One of the things that I really really need is to accept a zip file from a user's system, and 2/3 strings with some details.
I am aware that we can use SOAP and DIME to attach this file to this...

Hi,
I have a .Net Visual Studio solution with one asp.net Web application, which
uses a Asp.Net Web service. Both are compiled in debug mode, and both are
using the Studio development web server for debugging. I have also add the
Web reference to the web service with the "Add Web service in the solution"
choice, that is the Web app starts the Web service with the Studio
development web server.
So I thought I could set breakpoints on...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
