How to specify the initial memory size for a application?

I have a program that cost a lot of memory. During the load of the program,
more and more memory is being allocated. I'd like to know if I specify a
large initial memory size for the application, would its load speed be
increased? If so, how can I specify that?

Thanks!

Hi, I just noticed your post in the "C# memory problem: no end for our problem?" thread. In the post you implied that I do not how the garbage collector works and that I mislead people. Since the thread is over a month old, I decided to start a new one with my response. Please see my comments inline.

We have a VERY simple .NET C# Form Application, that has about a 23MB Memory Footprint. It starts a window runs a process and does a regular expression. I have done a GC.Collect to make sure that, no memory is lying around. GC reports only 84k of allocations. Starting 5-10 of this apps is going to start taking a considerable amount of memory. Is there a way to reduce this? Tom

Hi all, I'm getting very confused about how DB2 uses shared memory and I wonder if someone could clarify matters for me, please ? We are running 32bit DB2 V7.2 FP9 under AIX 4.3.3 on a machine with 64 Gb of memory with a single non-partitioned database using extended storage and with intra-parallelism enabled. I've been experimenting with changing various parameters in an attempt

hi, we are using db2 udb v8.1 for windows, i have changed the buffer pool size to accommadate better performance, say size 200000, if i have multiple connection to the same database from application server, will each connection take the memory 800M (200000 x 4k = 800 M), so the memory took will be 800M times number of connections, or the total memory get from bufferpool will be 800M?

I am getting an out of memory exception when spinning up a few hundred threads all processing sizable amounts of XML. Is there any way to specify min/max heap as there is with the java -Mx128 type switches to the JVM? (don't remember the exact syntax of the jvm param) Thanks in advance! Derrick

I have two questions: (1) How (if possible) can you, with ASP.NET (and with the IIS 5 included with win2000) specify an maximum limit of the memory that a web application may consume, as an absolute number of megabytes ??? ( I am aware of the "memoryLimit" attribute in the "processModel" element in the Web.config but that only specifies the maximum allowed memory size, as a percentage of total system memory, and I don't want a...

Hi guys, For last few days we are getting out of private memory error. We have a development environment. We tried to figure out the problem but we believe that it might be related to the OS (I am new to Windows so not sure). We are currently bouncing the instance to overcome this error. This generally happen at the end of business day only (So maybe memory might be getting used up?). We have already increased the statement heap & ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
