I am having some trouble with user controls and would appreciate any input /
advice on where to go with this... :)
1. The first problem, and perhaps the root of the others, is that I have
several user controls that are inherited user controls, based on one class,
which is in turn based on System.Windows.Forms.UserControl. We'll call this
class "UserControlBase". My first problem is that UserControlBase implements
some public...

I've been noticing that I seem to be "losing" the ability to compile inherited forms. The first couple debug starts are fine but occassionally the compiler complains of a variable or a control that is inherited is missing in the inherited form. I know this is a bug, as I'm not altering the code at all inbetween restarts. The solution is to reload the solution. Anyone noticed this behavior on inherited window forms?

Hello,
In my project I am inheriting several forms. However when I
inherit from a form and add additional subroutines and methods to my
inherited form I get all sorts of problems. e.g. I sometimes get
MyVarialble is not declared errors when the variable is quite clearly
declared, when I change it to public and then back again to private the error
goes away!!!
Also I get lots of member not found errors, these however don't stop me from...

Is the following behavior normal?
Both the 'Protected sub' in the inherited form and the 'Private Shadows
sub' in the derived form fires.
My interpretation of MSDN help on the topic "Shadows" does not seem to
indicate that this is the designed behavior. (the topic is rather
cryptic to me.
Here is my code;

Hi,
I have a form that when opened in the designer appears of the screen. The
form selector can't be dragged (or resized) and if I scroll right and down
to centralise it the form simply jumps further away, completely leaving the
selector box area.
Any ideas? VS 2003 and VB.Net
This is a simple application at the moment but the form is inherited from a

Hello,
I have a problem with inherited forms in my solution. I have one
project with
my base forms in and another (my main project) with my inherited forms in
it. There are times when I load the solution the .resx part of my inherited
forms is not
visible and an error occurs when you try and go into design mode with these
forms.
re-booting the machine, getting the latest version or re-loading the project
often clears this up, however...

hi to all
this is the problem about inheritence. I have designed a form with some
essential controls which are required for every form which will
inherited from it. for example i have Button1 on parent form and this
button is visible to me on inherited form.
The problem is:
I have written a click event of the button1 on both of the forms. tell
me the way if i click the button on inherited form only parents' click
event will be called and...

2 Questions:
(1)
The documentation says application.run() creates a standard
message loop on the current thread and "optionally" shows a
form. This is really confusing because I was of the understanding
that application.run() creates a message loop for the form and
passes all messages to it.
If showing the form is optional, and I want to to display 2 forms,
which form will application.run() pass the windows messages to?

I am moving some of my VS 2003 projects to VS 2005. In my base library there
is a baseform that is inherited by most forms in my application. The
baseform in the library contains a protected untyped Dataset, containing one
table. In the designer for the inherited forms, I then add specific columns
and other tables to the inherited dataset.
This does not work in VS 2005 anymore, because the Tables property of the
dataset in the inherited...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
