Async Network Stream

Hat jemand (schlechte) Erfahrungen mit Asynchronen NetworkStreams gemacht?
In meiner Serveranwendung scheint die BeginRead Methode des
NetworkStreams manchnmal den Stream nicht fertig zu lesen.

...
socket = socketForClient ;
buffer = new byte[524288];
networkStream = new NetworkStream(s ocketForClient) ;

callbackRead = new AsyncCallback(t his.OnReadCompl ete);
callbackWrite = new AsyncCallback(t his.OnWriteComp lete);
...

public void StartRead()
{
networkStream.B eginRead(buffer , 0, buffer.Length, callbackRead, null);
}

private void OnReadComplete( IAsyncResult ar )
{
int bytesRead = networkStream.E ndRead(ar);
string requestString =
System.Text.Enc oding.ASCII.Get String(buffer, 0, bytesRead);

...
}

auftreten?

I am writing a class that includes several async methods following the BeginXxx, EndXxx pattern. Some of these methods will call methods in the framework such as Stream.Read or Socket.Send. Do I need to, or is it recommended to use the async method calls instead (Stream.BeginRead, etc)? Example: MyMethod() { //...

After lot of testing i found the result is, I'm sending packet by packet data to client socket but client receiving stream read all packets at once. Can i reduce the tcp window size in .net or any method i can use to bound client get packet by packet data.

Hi, Simple question (although I guess with a complicated answer). Is HTTP an async protocol? For instance, if I send a message to a c# webservice via http what is the protocol actually doing? Thanks in advance Steffan

Hi all, Three questions really: 1) The async call to the networkstream's endread() (or even endxxx() in general) blocks. Async calls are made on the threadpool - aren't we advised not to cause these to block? 2) You can connect together a binaryreader to a networkstream:

Hi all, I'm trying to write a thread-safe async method to send a message of the form (type)(contents). My model is as follows: private void SendMessage(int type, string message) { //lets send the messagetype via async NetworkStream ns = client.GetStream(); //assume client globally accessible

The Problem is that if I Want tot Receive Large chunks of data (for instance the LIST NEWSGROUPS Response). I do not get the Data at once. Will TcpClient.GetStream().Read()/ReadByte() block until at least one byte of data can be read? In a Client/Server application, what does it mean at the end of stream/no more data available? Client could send data once few seconds of minutes. Is there an "end" at all? In a C/S application, if server side call BeginginRead() again in EndRead() to create a endless loop to get message from client, is this a better approach than "one...

Hi, I have a 100 clients/ one server application, use ugly one thread pre client approach. And both side user sync I/O. I frequently see the error on server side(client side code is same, but I don't see the error): "System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection:A blocking operation was interrupted by a call to WSACancelBlockingCall"

I've seen the MS sample async web request pattern and I ask is it really async if it is using a ManualResetEvent and setting WaitOne()? The ManualResetEvent object is being declared as a static variable so isn't it causing problems with other threads that may be using the same class to execute the async web request? If I remove the ManualResetEvent object will it be truly asynchronous and will I be losing something? Also, in my app the web...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
