How to Implement an Interface within a Windows Service

Greetings,

I'm using remoting to execute commands on a remote machine. My original
testing used basic console client and server apps containing a common
interface, which I built as a seperate DLL and referenced in each app. I've
managed to wrap the remoting code up in a windows service but I'm having
trouble figuring out how to implement the Interface. I'll admit up front
I'm having trouble gettting my arms around some of the larger DotNet
concepts and this is a logical result of that shortcoming. I've built
working remoting code, working windows services, and implemented interfaces.
I'm not sure why I can't put the three together. If the answer is too
involved, I'd appreciate a pointer towards more information.

I'm not sure if this the best place to post this, so I'm going to search for
a remoting group. (Please don't yell at me for cross posting)

Thanks in advance,

Larry

hi Larrry
About where to post such posting I think the framework groups would be
the best place . but let me try to help .
Why don't you but the remoting code on a separate DLL that you invoke from
the windows service then you can call send argument to the OnCustomCommand
of your window service. listen , windows service is very good choice for a
server to reomting objects ( it is not a bad design ) but may be you need
to tell us more about your configuration ( with a diagram may be).
Hope that helps.

I've spent the last few hours looking through books, Google, MSDN and surprisingly I have found little or nothing that explains/shows how to practically...

Is there an implement interface wizard is C#/Visual Studio? And, I have an interface, with many implentations, want to provide a Web Service implementation. What would be the standard practice? Implement the interface in the main asmx class? Or just have all interface methods available, but without explicitly implementing it? Thanks in advance! Derrick

I am in the process of developing a Windows Service which will: (1) monitor multiple network shares; (2) marshal text file transfers into an SQL Server 2000 instance; and (3) provide messaging services via email and a customized event log viewer. An additional goal is to have the service provide a visual status indicator via an icon to be located in the Taskbar status area. The NotifyIcon component appears to be a logical candidate and worked...

Introduction Usability and relevance have been identified as the major factors preventing mass adoption of Business Intelligence applications. What we have today are traditional BI tools that don't work nearly as well as they should, even for analysts and power users. The reason they haven't reached the masses is because most of the tools are so difficult to use and reveal so little

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
