Hi, I'm just learning c++ with the book from Bjarne Stroustrup and I just type what is in his book into Visual Studio .NET. Is that a good compiler for that or not? I'm beginning to have my doubts... and it needs to be ANSI C++ without the .NET framework. Now that I think about it, is "visual c++" something else than the ANSI c++? anyway,...

Hi Guys, When learning a language such as C#, would you say it is better to learn the fundamentals using the command-line compiler and a simple text editor such as notepad compared to using a full-fledge IDE such as VS.NET 2005 which gives code-insight, debugger, etc? Regards, James.

I'm wondering if I'm doing myself a disservice by learning Visual C#, considering it does so much of the work behind the scenes. Should I be learning console apps first? I still haven't found the right book. C# For Dummies started out great, then the guy just goes into the stratosphere, with no explanation on how he went from point B to...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
