Hi All,
The company I work for has traditionally used COM/ActiveX for the
solutions that it provides. We are in the process of moving to .NET and
a few applications have been written in VB.NET up to this point.
Some of the applications are class libraries which need to be callable
via the COM interface from some of the older applications. Could
someone please explain to me the issues involved in deploying such a
class library?

Hi Everyone,
I am using mscomm32.ocx in my application. Visual Studio automatically
created the interop wrapper dll for it and placed the ocx in my application.
Things work fine on the development machine. But when I deploy the
application with the wrapper dll and the ocx to another machine, at the
point where I am using the component, it gives the error 'class not licensed
for use'.
Please let me have whatever suggestions possible...

Hi,
I'm trying to make an online FTP utility in C# ASP.NET using MSINET.ocx
(an active X control a.k.a. "Microsoft Internet Transfer Control")
I've added the reference into my project and have been able to compile it.
However, when I go to a webpage, and try to FTP something, I get this error:
System.Web.HttpUnhandledException was thrown.(Class is not licensed for use)

I am getting error in a vbscript:
ActiveX component cant create object: Excel.Application.
The vbscript code is:
Dim objExcel
Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
I am pretty sure it is a permission issue because the script works when
I point the browser directly at the .htm file on the c: drive:
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\DemoSite\VbScriptTest.htm

Anyone know where the documentation is regarding Activex controls in asp web forms?
I'm using VS.NET 2002 enterprise and am trying to use Activex controls in vb.net web form app.
I do the add control to pallete and then add a reference. I get the interop dll added to bin folder.
I did this with the MediaPlayer activex control as a simple case to to try and get it working.
I set the control to autostart via the html parameter tag for...

Hi,
I want to integrate into some components (webcontrols, custom DLL, custom
command lines tools...) a license validation.
The license will be attached to the client's name and the primary hard drive
ID of the customer computer. (or any combination to make sure that the tools
are installed on 1 computer only)
For Each new client or new server deployed, the customer must ask us, then
we generate a key.

Hi,
I'm porting a Web site from 32 bit IIS 6 to x64 IIS 6 (Windows Server 2003
x64 R2) and I'm having trouble using an ActiveX object inside an ASP page
(old ASP, not ASP.NET). The CreateObject call fails under x64 IIS, while is
working fine under x86 IIS.
I found out that the problem may be related to the fact that the ActiveX is
based on a 32 bit DLL, while IIS runs at 64 bit.
I tryed to simply write a WSH VBS file that creates the...

This is really a licence question....
I want to deploy the version of Crystal Reports that comes with Visual
Studio 2005 to a production server. Is there another license charge if the
I'm licensed on the production server to run Visual Studio?

Hi,
I have a simple web page that starts Excel and fills it with some
dummy data. Using IE I can run this web page from the C: drive (IE: "C:
\startexcel.htm") and it runs fine. However, when I put the web page
in the wwwroot directory in IIS and try to run it there (IE: "http://
startexcel.htm") it gives me the error:
Error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Excel.Application'

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
