I can't get the wireless card to work.
From what I have read, the required kernel module is "orinoco_cs" which,

Hi, everyone!
I've tried to make a program which can get the wireless signal strength
of wireless NIC(ex. 802.11b network card).
As I know, regardless of whatever vender's NIC is used, in the property
window of wireless network card, we can see the wireless signal
strength state. (antenna 0-5)
How can I get this information?

Anybody else ever had a problem like this?
Windows 2003 Domain with 180 machines,
21 of them with XP SP2 Laptop Wireless
access to the domain, on three different WIFI AP.
Randomly (and luckily infrequently) I am
"losing" my dhcp on wireless machines where
they will "drop" off the network suddenly
and then not reconnect even rebooting, yet
if I change to static IP they will reconnect
fine (I am trying to stem a flow since I

OK this is my situation:
This coming Friday I will be getting Telewest broadband installed in my house, along with my PC there are 3 other PC's and 1 Laptop, making a total of 5 all using Windows. We are hoping to set up a wired/wireless network after the broadband arrives so we can all use the internet at the same time (the broadband connection by the way is 750). I am told that the Telewest modem is ethernet compatible which apparently is a...

Hi, I can't figure out my wireless (a 2WIRE router/modem) problem. After running the below script both the KWiFiManager and iwconfig shows that my card is working. However, a ping fails. My main card is a bmc4318, but the result is the same with a Linksys pci card.
I've managed to get wireless working on another laptop under Kubuntu versions of Gutsy and Feisty but now that I'm running Hardy....

How hard is it to write a driver for a wireless network card (Ubuntu
doesn't support my card)?
I have a lot of programming experience but in high-level languages
like Python and just minimal C knowledge.
How big is the project, hard to say perhaps but could anyone guess how
many lines approximately?
Is it technically hard or just a lot of specifications to meet?

Which would be better ? Cheaper ?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
