I need a bit of a hand here. I was a connection to a live database.
It is being displayed in a data grid
I'm using a dataset to grab the changes.
Once the modifications are done, how do I send all of those changes to the
database.
If you know how to accomplish this, I could really use a hand.
thanks.

I'm not sure that I entirely understand the purpose of the
AcceptChanges methon in a DataView. I added a new record to a DataView
and noticed that its RowState indicated it as being "Added". If I
execute the Update method on an adapter for the table that the DataView
is based on, the new record will indeed be written to the database. But
if I call AcceptChanges prior to executing the Update method, the
RowState for the new record is...

Hi Guys,
I have a situation where I have a grid loaded with data. It is not data
bound. Clicking an image opens up another form that allows the change of
the data in the grid.
Right now the changed data (1 row) is written to the DB and the whole
grid is reloaded from the DB which now incorporates the change.
My question is can I update the data in a data view? That way I can

Hi all,
does anyone know if I can create a dataview
from multiple datatables. My dataset is constructed
from four separate tables and then the relationships
are added that link the tables together. To make
data entry easier I would like to combine selected
columns from the four tables onto a single dataview that
could be used as the datasource for a datagrid
control. The distinct updates, insert ans delete

Is there a way to call DataAdapter.Update from a Dataview when I have no
reference to the DataAdapter?
i.e. The DataView is a class variable however the dataadapter is a local
variable in a sub procedure. From another sub procedure is it possible to
call a dataadapter.update or similar?
Psuedo code is as follows:
Dim _dv as dataview

I konw that one can make use of the default UpdateCommand in the DataAdapter
to save changes back into the underlying data source.
But i was wondering how one could build a custom update command & set this
into the DataAdapter & when the Update method of the Data Adapter is issued,
then this update command should be used.
Esp, if the table is Customer with the following fields,
ID = Primary Key Field (Integer)
Name = Varchar
Male = Bit

I keep getting a concurrency exception the second time I make a change and
attempt to update a dataadapter. It appears this is by design, so there must
be something I can do to avoid it.
Example:
I have a dataadapter that contains one table with one row. I change the
value of the 'FisrtName' column in that row from Jack to John. I call
..update on the dataadapter it goes through fine. Now I change that same
column in that same row...

Hello,
I am pulling master data from one master table and detail data from two
detail tables. The rows from the master data are displayed in textboxes on
my form which are bound to the data with databinding. The data from the 2
detail tables are displayed in 2 datagridviews. I filter each datagridview
with a Dataview object using the dataview.Rowfilter property. This is sort
of working except that I am getting an except on one of my...

I have have database that I'd like to update a numerical field (field1).
However, I make changes to the dataset and then call the dataadapter.Update
function.
Here's the sequence
1. Get value in field1 (from dataset1)
2. field1 = field1 - variable1
3. Call dataadapter.Update(dataset1)
I am wondering if the possibility exist that if 2 users are updating field1
at the same time, then it might lead inconsistent data. If this is so, how
can...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
