I have been losing sleep over this puzzle, and I'm convinced my train
of thought is heading in the wrong direction. It is difficult to
explain my circumstances, so I will present an identical make-believe
challenge in order to avoid confusing the issue further.
Suppose I was hosting a dinner and I wanted to invite exactly 12 guests
from my neighborhood. I'm really picky about that... I have 12 chairs
besides my own, and I want them all...

Hello all,
I'm currently writing a program in which I need a textbox control, similar
to the code editor in .NET. but with line numbers and such. I can't find
anything third-party that even comes close to what I want to do, so I
figured I'd have to write one myself.
I started first by inheriting from a RichTextBox, but I want to be able to
scroll line by line in the control instead of pixel by pixel, and I couldn't
figure out a way to...

Hello,
The code below represents a simple ownerdrawn,
Listview class in C#. Its purpose is to avoid
the flicker of the MS ListView. So I can't fall
back to their one.
Does anybody know why I cannot change the
size of the ListView's font (ListView.Font)

Ok, after three C# books, (C# How to Program, Programming in the Key
of C#, and C# Weekend Crash Course) and three weeks, I believe I have
tried everything to make a certain form function correctly. I am
trying to learn C# after playing around for a bit with procedural
programming with PHP, not OOP, and believe I have learned quite a bit
in three weeks, just not enough to accomplish this one task.
If anyone has a bit of free time and...

I'm new to .Net and all of its abilities so I hope this makes sense.
Basically I'm confused on when is the appropriate time to use web forms
controls vs. regular HTML.
For example in ASP (non-.Net) if I wanted to fill a list it may look
something like this:

I need to get the number of lines in a textbox so I can insert them into a
listview. The text comes from my database and is unformatted. I display the
text to my user in the listview. The textbox I create logically in the
program, and I initialize the correct properties for a normal multiline
editor.

I posted this last week, but didn't get any reply. I'm trying again now,
because I'm getting desperate - I've tried everything I can think of myself.
PLEASE help somebody.
I've made an inherited ListView control with a customized ColumnHeader Type.
I've overwritten the Columns property with a collection of my custom
ColumnHeader items. Now I would like to implement serialization so that
columns are persisted from designtime to runtime....

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
