A Question to the C#/.Net Gods of this forum:
are there performance penalties when i compile (C#, FW1.1, ASP.NET,
Studio2003) a central baseclass in a different assembly than all the
derived classes?
f.i. ive got a class dbobject i project "Basesupport", compiles to
Basesupport.dll.
From dbobject i derive about 100 classes, thy all are located in Project

I have been having some fun learning and using the new Controls and methods in .Net 2.0 which will make my life in the future easier and faster. Specifically the new databinding practises and wizards.
But, I have found that trying to do something "outside the norm" adds a rather large level of complexity and/or data replication.
Background
I have been commissioned to create a web-based application for a client. It has a formsaunthentication...

is there any way to make an assembly file accessable across multiple
projects (we have over 20 that need the info all to be the same at build
version, title, desc, copyright,etc) i saw MS did this with the quick starts
with what looks like to be a short cut to a file in each project... is there
any way to have the assembly as the actuall file in one project and all the
others reference it? this is also a source controled solution too by the...

I have broken up my web site into smaller web site projects. When I look at
the precompiled files, it always has the virtual directory in them ie:
<preserve resultType="3" virtualPath="/Security/DefaultLogin.aspx"
hash="fde4916e6" filehash="ffffe84d717a4765" flags="110000"
assembly="App_Web_-xo1n4yg" type="ASP.defaultlogin_aspx">
<filedeps>
<filedep name="/Security/DefaultLogin.aspx" />
</filedeps>

I need to design a system which represents multiple "projects" in SQL
Server. Each project has the same data model, but is independent of all
others. My inclination is to use one database to store all projects.
Looking at the numbers involved, however, I wonder if I would get
better performance by storing each project in its own database.
Suppose I have 50 projects, each with two users and 10,000 rows; it
seems to me I'd rather have 50 x...

Problem: I'm receiving the error "File or assembly name XXXXX or one of its
dependencies, was not found." when trying to execute code in an assmebly that
has both a strong-name and has been installed into the GAC.
We originally had this assembly without a strong-name and we were
successfully using it by referencing it when it was NOT in the GAC. The
assembly was built using the 1.0 framework and we were able to call it from
both 1.0...

Hello,
I am trying to find a solution to a login mechanism for different
domains on different servers with PHP5.
I have one main domain with the user data and several other domains that
need a login to show data.
I want the user to login only once when he visits any of my domains.

Just wondering if it is perfectly straight-forward and safe to have a .dll
installed in the GAC on a Web server - and have multiple Web sites make use
of the .dll.
Until now I've been XCopying all files for each Web site - including
duplicating .dlls amongst the sites. I was wondering if I would benefit from
moving the common assemblies to the GAC or continue duplicating them amongst
Web sites.
Would a dll installed in the GAC load...

I want to invoke that static method. I found the following examples

bool result = (bool)theClass.InvokeMember("Initialize",

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
