How can i convert Word file to txt file in ASP.NET using CSharp?

Hi Ashutosh,

You might like to explore the option of using the Word
Automation model on the server to perform these conversions.
Other than doing a TLBIMP on the MSword typelibrary,
MS Office also ships with Primary Interop Assemblies (PIAs)
that will allow you to use the automation model from C#.

To convert from .doc to .txt, open the exisiting document using the
Word automation model (I assume something like
Application.Doc uments.Open() - you can refer the documentation
to get the correct method), and then call the Document.SaveAs ()
method tosave the document in the desired format (.txt in your case)

I am currently trying to replace certain strings, not single characters, with other strings inside a word document which is then sent to a browser as a binary file. Right now, I read in the word file, convert the FileStream into a string using Unicode encoding, then do a replace, then convert the string back to a byte using Unicode encoding which i then Response.WriteBinary(bytes) to the browser. This works fine although the actual...

Hi, I am looking for a software component that will allow me to convert a MS Word doc file to PDF from within my application. I'm using VB.NET and I'm currently doing the conversion sucessfully by firing up the Word object model in the app and using the distiller to "print" to a file. This works fine, but can be slow.

Hi: I have an Access database that's been running (in one form or another) for a couple of different clients for a few years. Now a new client has requested that it be implemented with a SQL server back-end. I'm doing my best to learn about SQL server, and I plan to leave the front-end more or less as-is, just linking to the SQL server back end, but here's a basic question: The db has a front-end linked to two back-ends. One of the...

Hi, I have a MS Word binary data file that is sent from my .NET webservice in response to an XMLHTTP request from an Internet Explorer client. This data has to be base64 encoded to tunnel through a firewall. I've used the .NET Convert.ToBase64String() method to encode the data. I understand that the Convert.FromBase64String only runs on the server. How can I decode the data using jscript that's running on the browser?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
