load UserControl at runtime

I have a win app that will load a usercontrol which is in a dll file, e.g. UserControl1.dl l.

The UserControl1.dl l refers another usercontrol which is in another dll file, e.g. UserControl2.dl l.

In the win app,

Assembly assembly=Assemb ly.LoadFrom(@"c :\temp\usercont rol1.dll");
Control control=(Contro l)System.Activa tor.CreateInsta nce(namespace.c lassname);

Then add the control to a form in the win app.

1. It is working when both the usercontrol1.dl l and usercontrol1.dl l in local driver.

2. But if both are in a server, e.g. \\server1\share dpath

Assembly assembly=Assemb ly.LoadFrom(@"\ \server1\shared path\usercontro l1.dll");
Control control=(Contro l)System.Activa tor.CreateInsta nce(namespace.c lassname);

I got runtime errer.

3. if the usercontrol1.dl l is in the server, and usercontrol2.dl l is in local located at the folder that win app is.

it still works.

Can you explain why?

I really want both dll in server. How to get it work?

Thanks
Keith

Hi, I've created a very simple winforms control using the c# wizard in VS .net 2003 that is nothing but a System.Windows.Forms.UserControl. There are no other controls on the form It takes IE 12 seconds to load this control into the page. CPU usage is at only 1% to 2% during the 12 sec All of this is on a single machine XP Pro sp1 (all critical updates loaded) 2.6GHz, P4, 512MB ra IE v6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 IIS 5.1 ..net...

Hi guys Ok, i have an aspx with a user control. In the user controls pageload i set a property (mystring = "test";). i then want to access that from the page_load of the aspx thats using the control. the problem is that the pageload for the page fires before the pageload for the control, so if i say in my pageload response.write(control.mystring);

Bakground: I have a webform (LoadCtl.aspx) which loads the user control to a placeholder dynamically based on the ctlName querystring passed in the URL. Webform (LoadCtl.aspx) also passes a variable (targetId) in to the usercontrol (IntergySite.aspx) by calling its setter method. Currently, I am using if-then-else and hardcoded the User Control Object to do casting and call the setter method. Question: Is there any way I could load,...

Hi there, I searched carefully through the web before finally deciding to post this message, because I could not find a solution for my problem. Hopefully someone will have a hint or explanation for me! I apologize for the length of this posting, but I wanted to make sure that I get an answer other than "Hey man, just use LoadControl!", because this is not what I want. The Task: Isolate a collection of web forms which are created as

I have a Form (FV&C) containing a userconrtrol (CF&E) I do a ShowDialog for the form and the form's Load calls a method of the UserControl. The first time I do this the usercontrol appears on the form as I'd expect after the method had been run. The second time I do this the usercontrol appears on the form as if the usercontrols Load had last been run.

Two days ago, I built an ASP.NET 2.0 application and published it on a shared IIS 6 Web server. After publishing, and during the whole day, it worked fine. The server remained untouched since. Today, I wanted to access the home page of the application again with a browser. But instead of the proper page, I just got an ugly message: Server Error in '/' Application.

This is a weird one. I have a series of "SmartParts" which are CAB (Composite Application Block) Views which are finally just UserControls (99% of the time) Anyway, I layout my UserControl in the VS2005 designer, but at runtime, the controls are in different locations and different sizes. I have been able to restore their sizes by putting a hack together that will set their sizes to the correct values in the UserControl's Resize...

We have a Windows app that has one main form (a shell, sort of). We then load user controls into a panel on the form depending on what the user has selected. Our current code to unload the existing user control and load the newly selected one is pretty bulky. Every time we add a new user control to the project, we have to add some code in the section where we are loading/unloading. Is there a more dynamic, more efficient way to...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
