Thankyou MVP's, Nice work

I must say, the Microsoft VP's do a very good job indeed.
It certainly makes all the difference to this newsgroup.

Owen,

Thank you for the appreciation. Personally, I find it very satisfying
to see something like this.

However, it should be pointed out that MVP does not stand for Microsoft
VP's, it stands for Most Valued Professional, and we are not hired by
Microsoft (just to make it clear, in case there was confusion).

Thanks again.

And I'll second that too, (beer in hand) or third it or whatever. Beautiful
people, MVP's. They've helped me loads, and taught me much.

Cheers, Salute, Kampai, and like that,

Eric

Hi all, I popped up this question a while ago, and I thought it was worth checking again now... (maybe something has changed or something will change). I read this book about component oriented design (owreilly - Juval Lowy), and it was actually very nice. The book goes on about how we should use Interfaces exposure instead of classes...

Okay, I just finally figured out the Model View Presenter pattern as presented by Martin Fowler (http://www.martinfowler.com/eaaDev/ModelViewPresenter.html). I even got a small model of it working in a Windows Forms app I created from scratch. Pretty cool how the form is sitting there and gets populated from the Presenter - and the Form is...

Hi I need to read in a large set of text files (9GB+ each) into a database table based on fixed width lengths. There are several ways to complete this, but I am wondering if anyone has insight into the FASTEST way to read in the data and chop it up ahead of posting it into the DB. So far, things work, but they are far slower than...
