I very much doubt that humans are involved in the gathering of the email
addresses. This is just a clever virus going through everything on the
victims' hard drive (including news archives) and sending itself out to
anything that looks like an email address...

Andreas

Tom,

I found out the hard way not to put your real email address on ANY
public newsgroups/forum/etc several years ago... You can either put a fake
email address in your NNTP client, or use the web interface which
automatically makes you an*******@discu ssions.microsof t.com. I bet you get
a load of spam after starting to post here with your real email address. If
you NEED to put your email address in a public forum, then disguise it so
that a program can't detect it i.e. "tjenkinsATcent ersoftcomDOTcom ". If a
human wanted to reply to your post via email and knows anything about an
email address they can figure it out.

Hi, I'm looking to setup an email system that will log into a catchall account, read to addresses and forward them to a different email address stored in a MySQL table. I may also allow the users to store these emails in their own accounts at a future date. I've got the IMAP checking etc etc working just fine. However this will be more troublesome if someone includes an attachment. Firstly, the imap_body($mbox,$num) chucks out loads of...

Hello everyone, I have read through the newsgroups (thank God for 'em!) extensively looking for an example of how to pass a file (PDF) from a webresponse stream down to a web client. Here's the scenario - when the web browser requests a file, the IIS Server1 has to go back to Server2 to make a request for the file. Server2 then responds the file back to Server1 and Server1 should be able to just forward the file down to the web browser....

I use session variables that stores data for a shopping basket. The site runs at www.mysite.com/france and works fine. But I also have the domainname: www.mysiteforfrance.com So, on a Plesk admin, I set a frame forwarding on www.mysiteforfrance.com to www.mysite.com/france When a visitor goes to www.mysiteforfrance.com he can visit the whole site, but in the adres bar he always sees www.mysiteforfrance.com. (in other words: this is...

Hi, The way authorities are granted in DB2 are very vague. In one of our production systems the users under staff group in AIX have sysmon authorities and i have checked dbm cfg and there sysmon_group is empty. So how every member of staff have sysmon authority.why so? How can a user run "db2 list applications" and db2 "get snapshot ....." with these authorities?

Hi All, I'm experiencing problems with sending mail using mail() to forwarded email accounts. The problem seems to revolve around the optional 4th argument of mail(), namely 'additional headers'. It seems that when I populate this 4th argument of mail(), any emails sent to an email forwarding service email address (ukreg/fasthosts actually) fail to reach their destination. Direct email addresses seem to work fine.

Hi there! I have found that there are a lot of $_SERVER variables accessible within a PHP script, that allow "access" to the HTTP header sent by the client. According to http://www.adamek.biz/php.php, the following can be used: $HTTP_VIA $HTTP_CLIENT_IP $HTTP_PROXY_CONNECTION The above are pretty clear and I have no problems with them... but then:

I have a domain name which is set up for web forwarding with a frame. I have a link on one of the site's pages to an external site. When I select the link the external site is displayed correctly with its own URL in the address bar. When I select the <backbutton in the browser, my domain name appears temporarily in the browser, but it returns to the external site. If I look at back History (In Firefox) there are two entries for my...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
