Using log4net: ERROR No appenders could be found for category (testApp.Loggin gExample).

Hi,

We are trying to evaluate use log4net v1.1.1.

When we try to execute the sample application "TestApp" that is
provided with the actual source code, we get the following errors:

log4net:ERROR No appenders could be found for category
(testApp.Loggin gExample).
log4net:ERROR Please initialize the log4net system properly.

Any suggestion in this regard would be very appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,
Ravindra

The problem starts during my while loop. It checks to see if they hit x or X. If they did, then that means the user wants to exit. Then should go on and hit the return statement. It just quits. When I hit x, it pauses for a second then just goes to the next line on the cmd prompt. My other returns work just fine though. I'm sure its just a stupid logical error somewhere that I havn't caught. If anyone can point out any tips that or whats...

I have successfully setup numerous xmlpoke statements within an Nant script but this specific situation I cannot figure out. I am including a section of the xml code I am trying to access and update using an xmlpoke statement. No matter what I try I continue to get " No matching nodes were found with XPath expression '/log gingDistributorConfiguration/xmlSerializerSection/enterpriseLibrary.loggingDistributorSettings'.

Understanding and Using Exceptions (this is a really long post...only read it if you (a) don't know what try/catch is OR (b) actually write catch(Exception ex) or catch{ }) The first thing I look for when evaluating someone's code is a try/catch block. While it isn't a perfect indicator, exception handling is one of the few things that quickly speak about the quality of code. Within seconds you might discover that the code author...

I am getting the following error when I try to run a new webservice I have placed on any one of 4 windows 2003 servers. (Running under ASP.NET 1.1) To minimize the problem, I created a simple webservice called "TestApp" that exposes as the lone method on the service. I create a simple installer package for the msi and run it on the server. When I go to http://.../TestApp/Service1.asmx, the generated page and test page appear fine. ...

Folks, I'd really like to use log4net for our error logging, but I'm having two problems: 1) For certain cases, I'd like to log error and messages to text files. I tried both the regular FileAppender, as well as the RollingFileAppender, but both don't work exactly the way I'd like them to.

Hi all, I would like to implement log4net for logging my application. First let me describe in short about the application. I have a solution with two exe file outputs and several dll assemblies. And my application has a different AppDomain as it is a customization of another COM based application written in VB.NET. I have tried with App.Config files in my startup exe applications. It works fine only till the parent application is...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
