.NET remoting in more details

yes i want to get beyond the basics of .NET remoting at least the one
thing that im quite interested in is what goes on at runtime, for
example when a client invokes a remote method how is the channel
formatter sink at client side going to start doing its job (how does it
get called )?
and the other channel sinks at both sides, the client and the server
sides?

are there any good resources on the NET that make a good explanation on
those points?

Hi, Is there a way to have one of my assemblies (dll) be loaded at runtime from a URL instead of locally? i.e., I would never want that dll to reside on the user's hard drive, not even as a temp file: straight from the network into memory. I don't want to use remoting because I'd prefer to not have to assume that I can use IIS... Thanks JT

I am working on app that currently all resides on the same machine but plan to pull the database off and try to move all the datafunctionality to a remote machine. I have a data function that is processing a loop of rows and calling a stored proc for each row. All is encapsulated within a single oracle transaction. I have a logic class that is making a call to the dataaccess class and passing the rows. I can serialize the dataobject...

Hi, At the moment I am trying to develop an application that uses another app over .net remoting and having some problems with it (ok, that is ofcourse why I am here), hope somebody can shine a light on the following: I have been given a sample winforms app, which works without problem, I can connect, send queries and become response from the other application. When I try to implement this in webforms, this unfortunately does not...

Hi there, I have been messing around with remoting in an attempt to create a "shared application" as mentioned in another thread by that name. I have created a singleton object just like the example in the 101 VB.NET examples. It works great, only 1 instance ever gets created and is shared by each client. I have a few questions though, * Can the singleton contain events? In such a way that when the

I'm trying to use a Web Service to be a Remoting client of an existing ..NET 2.0 server. But I get the following error when I try to use System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Http in my WebService. The same code works fine in a standalone app. I have inspected System.Runtime.Remoting.dll with ildasm, and I can see the ....Channels.Http namespace there. I verified that the virtual directory is configured to use v2.0.50727 (the error message...

Hey I have some more questions with regards to Remoting in .NET 2. I'm using TCP with the Binary formatter. My solution consists of 4 projects: - Class Library containing the server classes which Inherits MarshalByRefObject (ok, at this stage it only contains one class... but its gonna grow) - Class Library containing common classes and interfaces that will be shared between all projects. This include interfaces for the server...

I'm working on a remoting application where the client only references interfaces for all wellknown objects. I currently have an object, Request being exposed: Imports System.Runtime.Remoting Imports System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels Imports System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.http Imports Central.Remotable Public Class SyncService

Hi I have a problem with the .Net-Securty-Functions. I've got a client and a server. When I try to register a channel at the server with this line: ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(chan, false); I get the following error - doesn't matter if I try it local from my machine or from a remote machine. (After the Errormessage is more text ;))

Hi I'm busy developing a .NET remoting application. Tcp remoting with a binary formatter is used. The user can specify on the client configuration whether to connect to the hosted Singleton or SingleCall objects. The application consists out of the following: - Shared assembly This contains serializable classes that are shared between the server and client applications. This also includes interfaces for the server classes. -...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
