Hi again
is there any way to prevent the discovering of my web service (esp. by browser)? It would be perfect if only my own- written client could connect to the web service and no one else. As this is most likely not possible, could anyone point me out some steps that lead to that direction (esp. against reverse engineering)

I am adding a web service to an asp.net solution. Currently, I use forms
authentication to login to the solution (no web service yet). How can I use
a web service that is protected from everyone but those who have login
access? A brief read on google has said that forms authentication is not
really appropriate for a web service. Does this mean I must scrap forms
authentication if I want to add a web service?

Hi,
I have encrypted pdf files which I need to stream through a web service to
the browser. So I have a byte() array returned from my web service call which
allows me to decrypt back to the pdf before displaying. It works but is slow
when the average report is 84K. So basically I need to speed up the
streaming.
I have tried gzip compression but found out that pdf are already compressed

I've got a windows service (server) application and a winforms (client)
application. What I need to do is to host a web service in the windows
service application so the client can request information about its current
state and request server's internal data to change on user's behalf, plus I
need to do it in a standard compliant way, such as xml/web services.

Hi,
I'm developing a web service that needs to communicate with a custom
application on an intranet. There is also a configuration utility which may
be run on a different server machine for setting up and altering parameters
on the service. This configuration web application may be browsed to via
intranet or internet.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
