How to pass Principal and Identity objects across .NET Remoting

Hi All,

I would like to trace all remoting calls happen from the client. I got a
rough idea of creating custom service and injecting into the object/message
chain. Now i want to pass the user information to the remote server, i used
AppDomain.Curre ntDomain.SetThr eadPrincipal( Thread.CurrentP rincipal );
before making call from client, but in my interception logic i tried to read
the user principal but no luck...iam getting null string.

Please throw some lights on me where i went wrong.

Thanks,
GnanaPrakash.R

It is known that one cannot pass arguments as ref or out in a marshal-by-reference class. My problem is that I have a C DLL (and C# wrapper) that I need to isolate in an AppDomain and then I need to interact with many objects in that DLL and wrapper by reference. (So the classes inherit from MBRO.) While my app is running, I need to obtain info from objects in the 2nd app domain frequently/speedily and I need update the GUI; and I need to...

I've integrated role-based, forms authentication in my ASP.net application. I have a few remaining issues that I hope to resolve. Here are some of my questions: 1). I would like to access the Identity properties from within a web custom control. It appears that the HTTPcontext is not available. What is the 'proper' way to access the Identity info in this situation? 2). Is there a way to add additional Properties to the...

For some odd reason, despite the fact that I assign my own custom IPrincipal to the HttpContext.User property in an HttpApplication.AuthenticateRequest event handler inside of an IHttpModule, when I check the Page.User property, it's a WindowsPrincipal and not _my_ custom Iprincipal. Why would this be? .... using System;

Is there any way to share an object or variable between applications other than through .NET remoting? Also, if this is the only way, what kind of overhead is there for storage (memory) and speed vs local objects and variables? In my case the remote and the client are on the same machine. I would just be using remoting to share the variable between two instances of the same application - ie. two different processes or possibly...

I have a custom Principal (implements System.Security.Principal.IPrincipal interface) that I need to access from a WebService. My web application has the Thread.CurrentPrincipal set to this new Principal object, as well as HttpContext.Current.User. But when I access either Thread.CurrentPrincipal or HttpContext.Current.User from the Web Service, they are not the same as those set in the Web Application (and I can see why). My question...

Hi everyone, I'm using WCF authentication services in my current project. I used the following information as a starting point: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb398990.aspx Unfortunately, I can't manage to get/set the generic principal when I call other services. The authentication cookie is always null. I've included some of my Global.asax code below. Any help would be greatly appreciated:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
