Hi I'm developing a program and the client is worried about future
reuse of the code. Say 5, 10, 15 years down the road. This will be a
major factor in selecting the development language. Any comments on
past experience, research articles, comments on the matter would be
much appreciated. I suspect something like C would be the best based
on comments I received from the VB news group.
Thanks for the help in advance

Hello all,
I'm very new to C but I have a number of years of Common Lisp programming
experience. I'm trying to figure out ways of translating higher order
concepts such as closures into C. The code will not be idiomatic C.
GCC has an extension to ISO C that permits nested functions:
<http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Nested-Functions.html>
For implementing closures they have a serious limitation:

By reuse, I mean a function in an assembly which is called in another
assembly.
By a mixed-mode function I mean a function whose signature has one or
more CLR types and one or more non-CLR types.
The problem:
I have a number of mixed-mode functions which I want reuse. These
functions revolve around converting a CLR String to a C++ std::string or

Hello, everybody!
I'd like to make global type alias.
If I used c++ I would write the following code to create a global type
alias:
typedef SomeType MyAlias;
I've found that using keyword could be used to make type/namespace aliases.

in March, i posted a essay “What is Expressiveness in a Computer

I was informed then that there is a academic paper written on this
subject.
On the Expressive Power of Programming Languages, by Matthias

I have an application written in C that does a lot of low level stuff.
It does a lot of things like casting from void*'s. I want to create a
new GUI for it in either C# or MC++, but reuse the existing code.
The options I've considered so far:
1. Create a new MC++ GUI project and add the *.c files to them and mark
them with pragma unamanged. However, the /clr option does not compile
*.c files, so I rename them to *.cpp, and now they...

I was thinking of how I was going to create a robust versioning system in
Standard C++ for my library and was wondering exactly what the point of a
namespace alias is? The seem like a rather limited approach. For instance,
you simply cannot "add-on" to a aliased namespace... Here is a quick example
of what I am talking about:

#include <stdio.h>

I am just trying to get to grips with C# and OOP, and one of the benefits
would seem to be code reuse. However I am not sure where to draw the line. I
have the following section of code:
if (ev.locationList != null)
{
//isListNull = true ensures that we do not recheck the list
every time we add a new item
bool isListNull = false;

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupr who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
