C# Windows Service Failure Restart

HJ
The Windows platform provides a mechanism to
automatically restart a service when a failure occurs in
the 'Recovery' tab in the services panel. It allows you
to specify actions on first, second and subsequent
failures.

My question is this: How does my C# service indicate to
windows that it is stopping because of a failure, so I
can use the built-in Windows failure mechanism?

Thanks,

Greetings, I'm using DB2 WSE V8.1 FP2 on W2K SP4. Right clicking 'properties' from 'DB2 - DB2' service (Admin Tools -> Services), then selecting 'recovery' tab allows me to select computer's response if the service fails. So I choose 'restart the service' for first failure and 'reboot the computer' for second failure. Click 'Apply' and 'OK' to confirm this

Hi, We have many servers setup as a cluster. When one server crashes, another one take the relay... We want to know if it's possible (I suppose it is) to make a Windows service developed with .NET 2.0 work in a cluster environment. I mean, how to make sure the service will take the relay if one server fails. Is there something special to do or it will work by itself? (I'm not personally used to clusters, we need it at my office and they...

Hi Everybody, i need to restart a windows service made with c# when an fixed event is raised. So to test it, I've added a servicecontroller to my service, and in the creation method, i've created a new thread to try to stop it. Hello, I am new to this game so please bear with me. I have just written a simple application as a service using Visual Studio and managed C++. I wish the process to run in the background and to not use a GUI **ever**. It just runs. And if it fails for ANY reason then it is simply to be restarted. I need some help with this please. I have already found about _CrtSetReportMode and how I need to call it to suppress the popups I would...

Hi... Following the samples online, we implemented a windows service in .Net. Like most services, there's a worker thread actually doing stuff in the background. The problem we've run into is how to get the service to exit when the worker thread has a fatal error *and* get the SCM to invoke the auto-restart configuration? The worker thread can error out while the parent thread in the server process chugs along. We can set the exit...

I have created a Windows Service using Visual Studio .Net 2005 and C# which executes a series of database jobs on a time basis. I am using SqlConnections and SqlCommand objects to connect to a SQL Server database and execute stored procedures and query text commands. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
