W2K did not restart DB2 service as specified in the 'Recovery' properties setting

nek
Greetings,

I'm using DB2 WSE V8.1 FP2 on W2K SP4.

Right clicking 'properties' from 'DB2 - DB2' service (Admin Tools ->
Services), then selecting 'recovery' tab allows me to select
computer's response if the service fails.

So I choose 'restart the service' for first failure and 'reboot the
computer' for second failure. Click 'Apply' and 'OK' to confirm this
selection.

I then stop the 'DB2 - DB2' service thinking that W2K will restart the
service after one minute. But nothing happens.

Changing 'Log On As' for the service from 'db2admin' to 'LocalSystem'
makes no difference.

Anyone has any ideas why the setting is not effective.

Many Thanks!

Just a guess, but probably W2K considers it a regular stop, not a
failure. Maybe if you find out which db2sysc process is used by the
service and you stop it from the Task Manager it will be restarted?

You're right. Killing the process (from task mgr) is different from
stopping the service. It worked.

Thanks again!

An operator's stopping a service is not considered a failure, rather it is a
legitimate operator action.

I have a Windows service that is having trouble starting up at boot time. It requires SQL Server to start up. I have added MSSQLSERVER to the service dependencies (as explained in http://tinyurl.com/5s7kx) but that doesn't help. I changed the dependency from MSSQLSERVER to SQLSERVERAGENT which made no difference. I log exceptions to the eventlog which tell me the following error, abridged: Login failed for user 'xxxxxx'. at...

Dear all, I wrote a service by C# but I found the service is not quite stable. I want to add some code that refresh or restart the service itself for a fixed period. Does anyone know how to programmatically restart a service itself? Or I need a separate process to restart my service? Thanks for any help. Tedmond

If this happens when user starts the service in Services snap-in SCM shows error massage and service stops - it's OK. I configured automatic startup and Recovery...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
