XML error

I am creating a xml file parsing a PB .srd file.
It is executing properly but the error is "MISSING ROOT
ELEMENT"

the code is:

sring[] dw_parts=null;
FileStream fs = File.Open("C:\\ Documents and
Settings\\santh oshi\\Desktop\\ dw_grid_qaddres s.txt",FileMod
e.Open,FileAcce ss.Read);

StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(fs );

StringReader rd = new StringReader(sr .ReadToEnd());

XmlTextWriter XMLWriter = new XmlTextWriter
("d:\\santhoshi \\projects\\cur rent\\xmlwriter .xml",System.T
ext.Encoding.Un icode);

try
{
for(string line=rd.ReadLin e();line!=null; line=rd.ReadLin e
())
{
if(Regex.IsMatc h(
line , "datawindow",Re gexOptions.Igno reCase))
{
dw_parts=Regex. Split(line,@"\s +|\s*=\s*|\s*\)
\s*|\s*\(\s*");
for(int i=0;i<dw_parts. Length;i++)
{
//XMLWriter.Write String("<?xml
version="+'"'+" 1.0"+'"'+"?>") ;

if
(Regex.IsMatch( dw_parts[i],"datawindow "))
{

XMLWriter.Forma tting = Formatting.Inde nted;
XMLWriter.Write StartDocument() ;

XMLWriter.Write StartElement(dw _parts[i]);

//XMLWriter.Write StartElement(dw _parts[i]);

}

else if(Regex.IsMatc h(dw_parts[i],"units"))
{

XMLWriter.Write StartElement("u nits",dw_parts[i++]);
}

}

XMLWriter.Write EndElement();

//XMLWriter.Write EndElement();
}
//
XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();
//
doc.Load
("d:\\santhoshi \\projects\\cur rent\\xmlwriter .xml");

}

}
catch(Exception X)
{
MessageBox.Show (X.Message);
}

}
For each match it should create a element or node with the
contents .
I am new to XML coding in C# can u please help me out

I think that you are missing a root node, when working with xml

all the nodes you create need to be inside a root node

example of what yours might look like

<0>
</0>
<1>
</1>
<2>
</2>

what it looks like with a root node

<root>
<0>
</0>
<1>
</1>
<2>
</2>
</root>
notice that all the entries are encapsolated inside the "<root>" node

hope this helps

Hi, One of the disadvantages of using error handling with error codes instead of exception handling is that error codes retuned from a function can be forgotten to check thus leading to unexpected run-time problems. Exceptions on the other hand can not be simply ignored. In order to solve this error codes problem I suggest using error object instead of error codes. Each function has to return an error object that stores an error

Before anything else, I am not a very technical expert when it comes to VBA coding. I learned most of what I know by the excellent Access/VBA forum from bytes.com (formerly thescripts.com). Ergo, I will be writing this article intended for those who are in the same level, or maybe lower, of my technical knowledge. I would be using layman's words, or maybe, my own words as how I understand them, hoping, you will understand it the same way that...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
