I'm trying to write a text log file processor but am having significant
performance issues.
* On average, there are about 100-200 files to process each file being about
1MB in size.
* Typically there are ~600k to 1m lines to process total. Every line in
each log file typically contains a date, a time, follwed by a textual message
* Unfortunately, not all log files have the same format/layout; e.g. some
may have only have month/day...

my motivation is as follows:
i have to binarysearch several million times an long that is several
million items big. this costs time, although i use
Array.Binarysearch<long>. so i try to keep the Compare-method as lean
as possible, as it is summoned several 10 million times.
in case of an integer the fastest way would be this i think:
public int Compare(int a, int b)

Hi,
I have written a generic mergesort program which is as below:
---------------------------------------------------------
mergesort.h
-----------------------
void
MergeSort(void *array,int p,int r,int elemSize,int(*Compare)(const
void *keyA,const void *keyB));

These sorts work fine on 100000 ints but if I go much higher they will
both segmentation fault
**************************MERGESORT*********************
mergesort(int *a, int size) //a is pointer to the array, size is # of
elements
{
int b;

Hi,
I have to write program in C# to merge sort a linked list (doubly
linked). Is it true that the best way to do it is copy it into an
array, sort it and then convert back ?
I'm new to C#, but I tried to develop a merge sort program myself, but
have got stuck with a Null reference exception for the pos variable in
merge function. Also I wrote a function to get the actual nodes from
teh index values before calling merge function. Is...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
