Monitoring ports with service app question

I would like to create a Windows service that monitors and logs all of the
incoming traffic into my computer on all open ports.
I've read examples where if you know the port you want to monitor this can
be acheived. But I would like to listen on every one.

Is this possible? Any suggestions/examples?
Thanks,
Ron Vecchi

Hi Hi need to monitoring my windows service written in VB NET. How can my monitor application "feel" that my service has made something? Is the only way a polling (for example on a Db table)? Can't service generate events into monitor application? Where can I retrieve examples about monitoring windows services? Thank in advance and... sorry for my english, but I'm Italian! :-)

Hello, We currently are running a CRM application that uses DB/2 7.2 for the data repository. We will be upgrading to 8.2 later this year....maybe....time and resources permitting. The database is currently being hosted with a managed service provider (MSP) at a remote datacenter. This service provider is supposed to be monitoring the health and performance of the database as well as performing proactive maintenance on a regularly...

I have a windows service that in the OnStart it creates a thread and runs a loop forever and ever, assuming the service is running. The loop stops during the OnStop event, and everything works exactly as expected. I also have an application that monitors that service using the ServiceController component, and allows me to start & stop the service as needed, as well as poll for it's current status. Still everything thus far works and...

Greetings, I have a question I hope some one with more back ground can give me a little help with. I want to write a simple internet monitoring script for windows that watches out bound http traffic and keeps a list of all the site visited. I am thinking that I might be able to use pywin32 and COM to listen on open ports (e.g. 80) and watch for http headers. But I'm not sure if there is a better way to do it.

I have been trying to run IIS and Apache Tomcat on the same Server using the same Port (80 for http and 443 for https). I am trying to do this by using multiple IP address on the same Nic card. This would allow me multiple sockets for the same port. With all my research it seems that most services seem to listen on ALL IP addresses on the same machine for a particular port (25 SMTP, 53 DNS, 80 HTTP). I found you can tell IIS NOT to...

Hi Not sure I can do what I'm trying to do without using a 3rd party component like Dart. I need to build a windows service to create a socket connection on an IBM mainframe using an IP and port combination. No problem there. However, due to the expected volume (at least 20x10K streams per second in each direction), the mainframe sysadmin has requested the service use multiple 'conversations' within the single IP connection. The...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
