Hello,
I am new to ASP as well as IIS. I am trying to learn how to create a web
application using asp.NET. I have followed the instructions for configuring
the IIS settings but when I click on the .sln file to open the project in VS
I get the following error:
"Unable to open the Web Project 'projectname', the file path
C:\InetPub\wwwroot\projectname does not correspond to the URL
'http://localhost/projectname. The two need to map to the...

I'm trying to call a batch file that I've built using the FileSystemObject
and CreateObject("Wscript.Shell"), oShell.Run... in an asp script.
Naturally, I can get the script to work from a command line but not from a
browser. The page does not throw an error but the oShell.Run... portion of
the script doesn't run. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not talking Access Users & Groups, I may or may not implement that. Even
if I do file/folder rights still need to be managed.
I've searched the archives and read the many postings. The basic problem
seems to be this:
Access is a 'file server' based system. So if you want your users to use the
db they've got to have access to the file. And can do stuff to it you might
not want.

I am trying to write some C# code that will allow me to determine if the
current user running my application has "write" permissions to a particular
folder. However, I can't seem to get it to work. In the code snippet I've
included below, it always returns "true" whether the folder/file exists or
not (let alone whether or not they have permissions).
Any ideas?

Hello,
My problem is that File.Exists works fine if my file is on my local
drive but returns false if its on any other drive. I think that the
issue is probably file permissions and so I have tried the following:
FileIOPermision permFileIO = new
FileIOPermission(FileIOPermissionAccess.Read,
filepath.Value.ToString());

Hi;
My ASP.NET app (C# calling J# under .net 2.0) creates a png file in a
subdirectory to display as part of the created page. However, the bitmap will
not display due to a security violation.
Everything is the default settings I believe. IIS is running under Local
System. In IIS the DefaultAppPool is running under Network Service.
Annonymous access uses the account IUSR_JASMINE (machine name is Jasmine).

I've moved an existing site (which I didn't write) from a apache/php/mysql
host under windows to a linux apache/php/mysql host.
I've sorted out most problems except one.
There is an upload function on the site, which uploads files via POST to
temp folder and then moves it into a folder on the host using php function
move_uploaded_file. Under windows this works fine but on the linux host the
uploaded file is created with 600 permissions so...

I'm using freeASPupload and got some assistance integrating to a Member script. It works successfully.
In this modified version there are two groups that use this upload script. Members of one group get automatically re-directed after uploading.
However, this member group never gets the benefit of knowing if they've uploaded an incorrect file size or incorrect file extension.
Members from the second group do see the "exceeds max file...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
