Using MakeTransparent one can supposedly turn a color used in a Bitmap to
transparent. But, it looks to me like all it does it set these pixels to the
color BackColor of the Control it's attached to. Thus, when I set White to
the transparent color of a Bitmap stored in the Image of a PictureBox and
placed the PictureBox on a Form which has a BackColor of black, it turned
the white pixels of the bitmap image to black, but these black pixels...

Hi All,
I am trying to get a 24x24 "Windows XP" icon to display correctly on a
button in my toolbar. My icon has 8 layers (16x16, 16x16, 24x24, 24x24,
32x32, 32x32, 48x48, 48x48) with each size having a 256 and windows xp
colored image. When my application runs, the icon with 256 colors appears
rather than the xp icon. I have tried using a manifest as well as
Application.EnableVisualStyles. No luck.
I have seen numerous articles...

Hi,
I have an MDI application that uses a generic "ShowPage" routine in a module that is called when I want to display a child form. The basic idea is that in the module I have declared each form as follows:
Friend F0 As frmMain
Friend F1 As frmStart
Friend F2 As frmSearch
Then in my ShowPage routine (which is passed a string "pageToShow" which is the name of the form I wish to open), I first check to see if we already have an instance...

I'm using VS 2003, C#.Net 2003.
I built a simple windows form app. with the following attributes:
- has a BackgroundImage set to a jpeg
I built a very simple user control that contains a picture box set to an
icon. The UserControl constructor sets
SetStyle( ControlStyles.SupportTransparentBackColor, true);
this.BackColor = Color.Transparent;
The control does nothing except display the icon.

Hi,
I encounter a weird problem.
I have a user control with a toolbar on it. And there is also an imagelist
for this toolbar. This toolbar has few buttons. Everything's modifier is
"protected".
I extend this user control. In the child class, I add more buttons and more
icons to toolbar and imagelist, respectively. I can see all icons for all

Hi,
We have recently added some icons onto buttons for a windows app
(VS2005). While we are in the designer they all look ok, but
once we run the program some of the icons disappear from the buttons on
some screens. Other changes, such as text changes do appear ok.
Strangely, on the same screens icons for link labels come up ok.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I wrote a small part of a larger program, and oddly enough, when i try to run it, the icons spontaneously appear and disappear when i mouse over them.
background_img = Image.open('icons\\background.bmp')
background = ImageTk.PhotoImage(background_img)
buttons = Label(root, image=background, height=100, width=400)
buttons.pack()
exitB = Button(buttons, width=32, height=32, image=exit_Button, text="Exit", command=root.quit).pack()

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
