What's the trick to loading an icon from the embedded resources?
Here are the steps I have taken:
-------------------------
1 - I added a file named "FOLDER01.I CO" to my solution project
2 - I changed "Build Action" for the file to "Embedded Resource"
3 - At the end of my constructor, I try to load an icon and it throws the
following exception:
Exception:
"Resource 'myProject.frmM ain.FOLDER01.IC O' could not be found in class
'myProject.frmM ain'."
namespace myProject
{
public class frmMain : System.Windows. Forms.Form
{
public frmMain()
{
// This throws an exception
Icon = new Icon(typeof(frm Main),
"myProject.frmM ain.FOLDER01.IC O");
}
Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions,

Never mind. I found a syntax that works. These two lines will work:
Icon = new Icon(typeof(frm Main), "FOLDER01.ICO") ;
Icon = new Icon(GetType(), "FOLDER01.ICO") ;
When I tried to match the syntax in the Petzold book, "Programmin g Windows
with C#", for some reason, the following throws the exception I mentioned.
Icon = new Icon(typeof(frm Main), "frmMain.FOLDER 01.ICO");
Oh well, move on.

And another problem I was having is that the resource name is * case
sensitive *. It must match the case sensitivity of the embedded resource
file name you added to your solution.
For example, if you added a file named "FOLDER01.I CO" to your solution and
made it an embedded resource. The following works:
Icon = new Icon(typeof(frm Main), "FOLDER01.ICO") ;
This will fail:
Icon = new Icon(typeof(frm Main), "folder01.ico") ;
This somehow suprised me. I think this is the first time, using a Windows
programming language, that I have run into file name case sensitivity. I
suppose that once it is embedded as a resource, it is no longer just a file
name.

Hi,
We are running a ASP .NET application on Win2K server (.NET framework 1.1)
I have recently started getting this error - Failed to load resources from
resource file.
I would like to understand what causes this error.
It is a multi-language app and in Application_BeginRequest we do
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture =
CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture(Request.UserLanguages);

I have been searching for how to get an icon resource and load it into an
ImageList. I added an *.ico file to my project and set the files "Build
Action" to "Embedded Resource". Is there any easy way to do this? This was
easy to do in the old MFC. I can not find the answer in C#.
I also need to embed an XML file into the resource and load it at run time.
I am hoping once I figure out how to load an icon resource then loading an

Hi,
I am trying to load a custom cursor from my programs resources.
I have successfully included the cursor resource, and I have confirmed
that the name I am using is correct.
Below is the code I am using to try and load the cursor - which always
returns null.
I have tried using LoadImage and LoadCursor with the same result.

Hi,
I am getting the above error when start my application which I
deployed successfully.
The msi was produced using a .net launch project.
I can't see how to dig deeper to find out what is failing to load.
I have looked at the manifest with ildasm but am none the wiser.
Does anybody know how to diagnose this sort of problem?

Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
