abort thread while waiting for callback

We are working in C#/Winforms and are using asynchronous client-side web service calls (the Begin... and End... methods supplied by the web reference creation). Hi I'm having some weird threading issues.. almost at random, if I dare change a line of my code, the shutdown sequence gets messed up. I'm using a thread to receive data from the network, that I suspend and resume whenver needed. In order to properly shut down the program every thread has to be aborted. I use a Synclock in a secondary thread and also stop the thread using the abort method. If the abort occurs while the thread is in the Synclock will the SyncLock always be released before the thread stops or do I need to add some extra code to avoid Synclock staying on after the thread has been stopped. ok This is my main. Pretty much it goes through each category and starts up 4 worker threads that then ask for groups to gether from. My problem is that when the thread gets done it keeps the mysql connections open so I end up with quite a few at the end.
