Hi All,
What is the best way to use a cookie to remember a logged in user? Would
you store the username and password in two separate cookies? Should the
password be plain text? Hashed? Not there at all?
Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!

Try as I might I can not find a routine in os.path which validates whether
or not a path is syntactically valid, either as a directory or as a file.
This is surprising since, although I know this is OS dependent, Python has
many other classes and functions which will work properly depending on what
OS they are currently running under. Is there such a path validation routine
in any of the libraries distributed with Python or in any other 3rd...

Many of you are familiar with Jason Orendorff's path module
<http://www.jorendorff.com/articles/python/path/>, which is frequently
recommended here on c.l.p. I submitted an RFE to add it to the Python
standard library, and Reinhold Birkenfeld started a discussion on it in
python-dev
<http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-dev/2005-June/054438.html>.
The upshot of the discussion was that many python-dev'ers wanted path
added to the...

Hi Everyone,
Does .NET offer any collection class which will give me objects last
*accessed* such that I may build a least-recently-used cache that
kills off objects that haven't been used for awhile?
Or is there any other way to implement this kind of a cache /
collection where one can do this kind of cleanup based on
least-recently-used objects?

Hi All,
I'm attempting to use the MapNetworkDrive <snippedbelow from entire
code below with very poor performance results.
Basically, I have very small 73kb text files that are rewritten daily
to a network share using the MapNetworkDrive command to connect to the
valid \\servername\share path.
After successfully connecting the drive in the ASP code, the text file

Hi
I have a method A which have a loop, in that loop, another method B is
called, B opens a file and does getline till found something
interesting, does something with it and return void. then the A loop
goes on till the next time B is called.
B does while( getline( ofstraam, line ) )
I am trying not to getline all over from scratch again every time B is
called but instead keep getline "ganging" in there waiting for B to be

I was googling for a way to have my single form application start in the
same location on the screen it was in when it was closed. I found this
very short article:
http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/programming-and-development/?p=540
I can create the my.settings object as specified but I can't set the
form1's location to mainformlocation in form1's properties. It takes an
X and Y location.

Hello.
Speical folders, like Desktop, usually have different display names.
For example, in Japanese Windows, it's displayed as "$B%G%9%/%H%C%W(B". I want
to get the this displayed name of a special folder but I can't find a
suitable method. Environment.GetFolderPath() is to get the path not
the name. There's no way provided the .NET BCL?
I also tried to get it through Win32 API. I looked up the MSDN site...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
