This is new territory for me so I don't know where to start with a
design. I have to render a client side Dataset (5 cols x 20 or more
rows) to a canvas.
I know I can use Dataset.WriteXM L("myfile.xml ") but not sure what
producing an XML file does for me. I know that if I rename
"myfile.XML " to "myfile.HTM L" it renders to IE, but it ain't pretty. I
have to make it pretty.
I assume there are classes to READ an XML file like this, and classes
to produce HTML. Ths sounds like basic stuff for a Webbie, but I'm not
thusly skilled. There MUST be VS articles on these concepts I can turn
into code... any ideas where to start looking?
Many Thanks!

You can create an ASP.Net application, drop a DataGrid on the WebForm, fill the dataset as usual, call DataBind in the form Load
event ...
If you want to produce an html file from a dataset, you can use XslTransform classes...

Hello.
I am getting an InvalidCastException which has revealed yet more of my ignorance. I cant believe i
dont already know this and haven't encountered it before until now.
I am consuming a dataset from a webservice. I wrote both the server and client apps and the both use
the same middle teir. I fill a dataset on the server that has a relationship between two of the
tables inside. The relationship is between two strongly typed tables...

Is there any way to cache dataset on one page and it will be accessible for
one user?
if you declare dataset shared it will stay on the server and page will be
able reference to it on reload, but in this case it will be shared with
other users who use the page.
Right now I found work around it by saving each dataset as xml file with
users's sessionid in file name and reading it on page reload.
is there a better way?

Hi,
I have run into a very strange scenario. In developing an ASP.NET
application on framework version 1.1, I found that certain client-side
validation scripts were not being rendered. The reason we came up with for
this was because we had a PageBase base class for all our pages. This base
class takes the controls on the child page class and places them onto the
form being rendered. It seems that in this process, the rendering of the...

I am writing an ASP.NET tool that will allow the client to create their own
online froms. ie the client can add tect boxes, text, drop downs, etc with
absolutely no technical skill what so ever. The form can then be deployed to
their intranet.
The form designer is somewhat WYSIWYG but it contains a heap of 'edit',
'delete' and reordering buttons that are not seen when the form is acutally
being used.
I would love to have a preview...

I have this scenario:
1. XML file with schema and data is created from SQL Server tables. XML file
contains 6 tables, some of them have rows, some of them are empty.
2. XML file is given to the person with Pocket PC.
3. XML file is used to populate DataSet on the Pocket PC.
4. User adds new rows, changes values, deletes some rows.
5. Altered dataset is saved back to XML file.
6. XML file is given back to the person who initially created...

Hello,
ASP.NET pages are disconnected html pages i.e once page is sent to the
browser, that is it. Let's say that I have a datagrid on my page and I
have used a dataset to fill this grid only during the first visit to
the page. My page loads displaying the data in datagrid. What is the
status of my dataset? Is the dataset stored anywhere when the page got
rendered (I am not caching it)?
Now let's say that I use a button event to...

I have a client side dataset that is made up from a stored proc, I also have
a web service that returns a dataset from this stored proc. But when I call
the web service and try and store them in an instance of the client side
dataset , I get an invalid cast error.
example :
dim myclientds as new clientsidedataset
dim objwebservice as web.myservice

I'm a bit puzzled by the current recommendation not to send Datasets or
Datatables between application tiers.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306134
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms996381.aspx
Formerly, with classic Microsoft DNA architecture, the ADO Recordset was a
primary transport medium, recommended for transmitting data between
application tiers. In fact, there are whole books written on the subject.

Hi
We are evaluating the process of rendering controls using XML and XSLT in
..Net 2.0
Questions
1. Is there an article which describes the pros and cons and how to go about
rendering?
2. What will happen to the view state , and how do we access the control
values on the server side
Any help will be appreciated

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
