I'm trying to comparing 2 objects (pointer to object) to see if they are the
"same" as each other. Here is what the definition of being the "same"
object type for both objects, object 1, object 2, same?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Decimal 199677 199677 yes
String "hello" "hello" yes
null null
yes

Hi,
Lately i've been (and still am) fixing some memory leaks problems in the project i just took over
when i got this new job. Among the other issues i've noticed that for localy created objects it
makes difference to explicitly put them to null after working with them is done - it somehow makes
the GC collect them sooner, like here:
void SomeFunc()
{
MyClass c = new MyClass();

Hi,
I am trying to do a simple comparison and finding it
quite difficult. I call a SQL Server stored procedure
which returns a Bit as one of the record fields. All I
want to do is see if the Bit being read is a 1. I have
tried this:
if(dbDataReader->get_Item("On") == 1)
but this does not work since get_Item returns an Object*.

The .NET Framework 2.0 documentation states that
An Object variable always holds a pointer to the data, never the data
itself.
Now w.r.t. the following ASP.NET code snippet, can someone please
explain me what does the above statement mean?
<script runat="server">
Class Clock

I think I become more and more alone...
Everybody tells me that C++ is better, because once a project becomes
very large, I should be happy that it has been written in C++ and not C.
I'm the only guy thinking that C is a great programming language and
that there is no need to program things object oriented.
Many people says also that they save more time by programming projects
object oriented, but I think its faster to program them in a...

I just noticed that my "improved" version of sscanf() doesn't assign
floating point numbers properly if the variable assigned to is declared
as a "float" rather than a "double". (This never cropped up before, since
I rarely use "float"s for anything, and hardly ever use the function for
floating-point numbers in the first place; I just was messing around
testing it for all cases and noticed a problem.)
Anyway, it is declared and I...

In the interests of me saving hair, can someone please explain to me
what's going on below? Why doesn't == work in comparing two int's when
cast as objects? They're the same type.
Note that it worked for strings.
Thanks in advance,
Damien

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
