Forcing a Databinding to update

Hi.

I have a Class named Echo. That contains a private attribute Data, which
is a dataset that contains a single table (T_Echo) that can have
multiple records. I then have public properties, one for each field that
they are allowed to access, from which callers can access the underling
data. I have then create a windows form with several text controls and
bound these to the Echo Class. All work well at first.

However, because the table contains multiple records, I have to give the
user the ability to scroll through these. At first I thought of using
the binding context but as the binding occurs to properties of the class
this did not work. So I added a CurrentRecordID to the class that the
caller can change to access different records. This seems ok but when
the user increments the count (moves to the next record) the data in the
controls does not get refreshed. If I change tabs and then return to the
Echo tab bingo we have the correct data?

Does anybody know of a way to force controls to update their data
bindings? Or am I going about this the wrong way and should be able to
use the Binding context to navigate the records?

Thanks

Darran

Hi, There seem to be several ways to update rows in sql. What is the best practice? I have written a medium sized update statement into a stored procedure, taking values from the web text controls, drop down lists etc. It works, but i have also been reading on databinding fields to a datasource and setting form control autopostback to true. I now am worried I have not implemented a very good way to post back to sql. Is what I have done...

I have a web page with a formview, and a multiview in the formview. When I databind the values inside the multiview views, there is no option for two-way databinding. The form populates fine, but when it calls the update method, it calls it with no parameters. Is there just no support for two-way databinding inside these controls, or is there a technique I am missing?

When I first built a few web pages in ASP .Net 2.0, I thought it was great. The formview and detailview contorls would automatically layout the controls for you, the update methods were automatically generated, and the objectdatasource let you design against a business object through the gui. Now I am working on my first real web application on 2.0, and I find this automatic functionality doesn't do much beyond allowing me to generate...

Hi all, I may be missing something with how databinding works but I have bound a datasource to a control and everything is great, the control updates to reflect the state of my datasource when I update the datasource - awesome, but I have an issue with updating from a different thread. Here is my datasource, a person class that raises the PropertyChanged event: class Person : INotifyPropertyChanged {

Hello, I'm using typed dataset for databinding to windows controls and I'm having some problems. I'm trying to move all business logic to datatable column_changing events and the problem that I'm having is when I change some other column, control value doesn't update immediately until I call endcurrentedit on bindingmanager which doesnt happen until user click update button.

Hi, I've got a question which I'm hoping has a simple answer. I have a series of control bound to an underlying DataTable. The databinding are setup to update the data source on validation. I have an event handler monitoring the ColumnChanged event on the DataTable, and in certain circumstances I update another column in the datatable.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
