Plugin Application Help

I am trying to write an application in C# similar to one currently written
in Delphi. I am VERY new to C# and need a little jump start.

This is a brief explanation of what the Delphi Application did.

Main Application: (Container)
This application was an EXE that dynamically loaded OCX's. Basically what
it did in Delphi Terms is

Created an instance of a TOleControl... loaded by Class_ID.
Query the Object to see if it supports a certain interface
if interface is supported then methods are called to pass common interface
pointers for security
Loads the OCX into a TabSheet in a PageControl.

Modules (OCX's)
Created several seperate applications as OCX's to be dynamically loaded into
the container. using Delphi's Active Forms.
Each module supports.. IModule

I need to understand how to do the Following in C#..

* Create .net Assemblies (DLL's) that support a common interface as well as
there own interface
* Create an application that can dynamically load the above DLL assemblies
and query for the interface, load the assembly in to page control or similar
control and call the methods from the interface in the module.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction to try to do the following: I am developing an application where we receive files from customers. Right now we receive a variety of formats. I was looking at writing some type of base application that would allow me to add-in either new assemblies or plugins, don't know how or which way, for different scenarios. We may just recieve a text file so an assembly would handle...

Hello, I'm attempting to develop a plugin framework for an application that I'm working on. I wish to develop something in which all plugins exist in a directory tree. The framework need only be given the root of the tree. The framework then uses os.path.walk to search all for all files named 'plugin.pyc'. These are then loaded using imp.load_compiled(). They need contain only one variable called 'plugin' which is a reference to an...

Hello all, I mailed our common hero and fellow newsgroupian Jon Skeet a question regarding his article on plugins at http://www.yoda.arachsys.com/csharp/plugin.html, and he suggested that I should post here. I was afraid to spam the group further with my silly questions, but I agree with his sentiment that this might benefit others, so here we are. My question regards the proper way to build the plugin projects. My host

For example: I want the plugin to be able to expose functions and HANDLES (for synchronization with WaitForSingleObject for example).

I was quite surprised to find virtually nothing about this but I may have been searching for the wrong thing. I want to know the best way to provide a programming interface to a plugin. I already have a plugin architecture that allows the application to call code in a plugin but I want the plugin to also be able to call code in the application. I can think of many ways to do this but I am not sure the best way:

I develop an application that uses a plugin interface, that the hosting application as well as the plugins implement. Each plugin is loaded via: newPlugin.Instance = (IPlugin)Activator.CreateInstance(pluginAssembly.GetType(pluginType.ToString())); All Plugins are inside a sub directory called "plugins" of the main application. Now I developed one plugin that should implement a network interface, using external dll's from a framework i...

I am now aware (I am primarily a C++ developer) that in C# if you reference the same interface from the same file in two different projects the types are actually incompatible. I found this out because I have written a generic plugin system for my current and future C# needs. I defined a base plugin system interface named IPlugin (original, I know...) which contains some basic plugin infomration all plugins of this system must expose...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
