licensing Icons for commercial use

I am currently working for a commercial software producer
who is using C#. Some of the icon files on the GUI are
part of the standard resource libraries provided by the
Microsoft Visual Studio.

Could someone please E-mail me with the legal rights of
using these Microsoft developer icons in commercial
software?

For example:
1) Can these Icons be used freely without licensure?
2) Do I need to add copyright or trademark notations where
these icons occur in the written documentation?

Basically I am only talking about the File Save and File
Open Icons (and perhaps some other common icons). But I
want to be sure.

please write me at jo*********@yah oo.com
Also please do not respond after 7/20/2003

I'm trying to find an IDE for python that I'm comfortable with. For my needs IDLE actually works 99% of the time, but on my current project I need to have lots of files open at once, and I would really prefer to have tabbed browsing. I'd even try to code this into IDLE myself but I have no experience with Tk. All of the IDEs I've found...

Hi all, I'm about to write an application, and I'd like to use PyQt, but before choosing this toolkit I would like to clarify some particular licensing issues; if some user has already touched these, I would like to hear from his experiences. This app should be cross-platform, so, given qt licensing policies, I would buy a commercial PyQt...

There have been many questions as to the viability of MySQL's assertion that it can dictate what constitutes a derived work in order to use the GPL against developers who don't wish their software GPL'd and force them to pay for a commercial license. According to the lawyers I've consulted, based on the letter of the GPL, here is the...

Yes, I know you've seen the above subject before, so please be gentle with the flamethrowers. I'm preparing to enter a discussion with management at my company regarding going forward as either a MySql shop or a Postgresql shop. It's my opinion that we should be using PG, because of the full ACID support, and the license involved. A...

I'd like references on where to find some good (quality) icons to use for form and application icons (for the EXE). Most of the free stuff isn't that great looking and there isn't a good selection. A site offering previews of icons or purchase of a single icon would be nice. Thanks, Brett

i had the pleasure to read the PHP's manual today. http://www.php.net/manual/en/ although Pretty Home Page is another criminal hack of the unix lineage, but if we are here to judge the quality of its documentation, it is a impeccability. it has or possesses properties of:

As the only director of the Python Software Foundation to vote against a recent Board motion to implement the change in licensing terms described in http://pyfound.blogspot.com/2006/04/python-25-licensing-change.html I would like to place on record my protest against this change. I think it will harm the Python language and ultimately be...

I'm in the process of finishing a vb2005 application for commerical use, and wanted to know if anyone has any favorites for licensing software? Would like something reasonably priced for a part-time developer and flexible for both trial and regular licensing. Thanks Steve

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents.
