ASP .NET Source Control

Thanks Bruce for the reply,
I understand what you are saying but the problem is like this.
assume:
Suppose a project was devloped by a Company in say UK and the developer/s
have used VSS on a server in Company X. Now the project is handed
over/maintained by a company in US (me).

How can I get associated or disaccociated with VSS so that I can work with
it locally?
when you try to open a project is says "get from SourceControl" and if
ignore it it says "Work Disconnected"
basically I cannot work with it, how do i solve this problem?

Do they have to give me access to their VSS?
If they disconnect and give me the files, would that help?
I know that if i get the files I can build a solution on my local box and
work with it

I have no much experience with VSS

Thanks,
Stephen

If they don't give you access to their VSS, I cannot imagine how you can
update the code which is still hosted in their VSS. If the code is handed
over to you (your company) and no development will be done by them, I think
your company need to host the code.

Ryan

VSS is a BIG network resource hog, it's designed with LAN in mind. Very
wordy. Can slow to a crawl if you have high latency / slow speed.

You might be better off with CVSNT + pushok's VSS/CVS plug-in. Much better
suited for internet check in / check out.

So, I'm in a similar situation. I need to develop an ASP.NET interface to
some sort of configuration management. What are my options? What's the
best option?
