<div> tags, some basic questions

Hi-

I was just looking at te source for a site that I really liked and I noticed
they are using DIV tags where I assumed that would be using a mess of nested
tables. Now, this looks like a much cleaner way to do things. My question,
as an absolute newbie to <div> tags is can you access them anyway like you
can access a placeholder?

I have a site that uses a single main placeholder, then, based on what the
user navigates too, I load that page (stored as a user control) into the
place holder. They always have URL's like
Default.aspx?show=prod&detail=model123 or
Default.aspx?show=support&detail=faq

I'm tired of tables and would like explore the use of DIV tags. Can I
programatically, at runtime insert control into div tags like placeholders?
Are people generally moving towards the suer of <div> tags over nested
tables?

a bit of advice would be great!

Thanks,
Steve
