Asynchronous invokation of web service doesn't work under IIS 5.1

1 New Member
Hi,

I created a web service. When I place it under visual studio development server, the asynchronous invokation of web methd works fine. But when I publish the web service under IIS 5.1, the asynchronous invokation of web method doesn't work.

Does anybody have some comments?

Have you checked the Windows Event Logs for any indication of errors?

Hi all, I'm designing a fairly simple service that will run on W2K/SP4 and W2K3 servers. It's job is to be a very specialized database server that listens on a given IP address / TCP port and handles multiple connections. Client programs will make a connection and pass text strings to the service, which will then return a value for each of the strings. It's unlikely the service will ever have more than 100 simultaneous connections and...

I have a C++ application that consumes a web service. I would like to call the web service asynchronously so my C++ application can do other processing in between. My proxy file does not have any asynchronous methods in it, What do I have to do to get my proxy file to have the asynchronous methods to call? Thanks

Hi, I'm developing a web service with should be used by an .NET CF2 client and an .NET 2.0 Windows client. I've tried to put all the connection logic into one class, which could be used in common from the mobile and the windows client. But this didn't work: The new .NET framework supports asynchronous web services with the "MethodnameCompleted+=new MethodNameEventHandler pattern, but the "old style" .NET 1 pattern used in the compact...

Greetings, I need to create a web service to be called by a few of our external affiliated web sites. How can I restrict web service invokation to only these affiliated web sites? Some of the things I came up with, but seems weak 1. Check caller's url and only accept those that are in a list of authorized web sites. But hacker can spoof the url 2. Give each site a user name and password to send over with every call. But

I have a large problem, and I believe there is not yet a way to solve this using IIS and ASP.NET. I hope someone has a solution which we couldn't find. The current situation When a user logs in to our website, we implement a single login for multiple services (let's call them services A-D). This means, that on the backend, while sampleuser logs in to our service with only one username and password, he is automatically logged in to...

I'm developing WinForms application in .NET 2.0 that talks to web service. The automatically generated proxy (reference class) has got methods for both synchronous and asynchronous invocations of the web service methods. What I like about the asynchronous calls that they use events. So when I call the web service operation is finished is fires the event. So all my objects that I'm using in my client application just subscribe to whatever...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
